Georgie penned these endearing lyrics and they appealed to me greatly...having played at many an Irish wedding...

Gwyn’s daughter recently got married and it inspired me to write something jubilant for the week 3 hyperbole challenge. Gwyn always does an AMAZING job at the celtic/Irish lilt!

Lyrics:

She was the loveliest bride
Walking down the aisle
With her by my side
I got to give her away
I was proud to say
I’m her daddy today

She was the prettiest girl
For the mirror she’d twirl
In her mammy’s shoes and pearls
I’d been dreading for years
Those humble tears
And the day was finally here

The best and most beautiful wedding happened yesterday
There was not a dry eye in the house and words were hard to say
The speeches made us laugh and cry
And yes, especially mine
For I warned the groom of a broken head if he broke her heart in time

While they danced their jig
I had a swig
Of whisky on the bricks
When she threw the bouquet
I snuck away
For a bite at the buffet

The best and most beautiful wedding happened yesterday
There was not a dry eye in the house and words were hard to say
The speeches made us laugh and cry
And yes, especially mine
For I warned the groom of a broken head if he broke her heart in time

I cannot believe
She was only three
And sitting on my knee
In the blink of an eye
The time did fly
Now she’s married to her guy

The best and most beautiful wedding happened yesterday
There was not a dry eye in the house and words were hard to say
The speeches made us laugh and cry
And yes, especially mine
For I warned the groom of a broken head if he broke her heart in time

Perfect!

Great authentic brogue--I would not dare do that, although last year I did do some song called "For All The Women" which had SOME kind of weird brogue, but only because that is what came out of my mouth and had nothing to do with any actual language or accent spoken on this planet.

Great job, you guys!

marie's wedding has nothing on this one. should become a standard in the irish wedding songbook.

Listening to a Welshman and usa/Brit doing a Celtic song with an Irish accent on a sunny day in Australia, it's a funny world Smile but a good song!

You can really hear all the Irish wedding band experience coming out! Sounds super authentic. Great job on the lyrics from @Jibbidy34 - that last line of the chorus is DARK though. Another brilliant collab from you guys, well done. (And congratulations to your daughter, Gwyn!)

This has such a wonderful celebratory feel to it. The lyrics tell the story with fun rhymes and rhythm. And the music and vocal that delivers those lines with flair. Really nicely done!
