Liner Notes:

Set my Wednesday skirmish lyric to music.

[A quick skirmish lyric (prompt was: happy song - as in a song that is happy, positive in message and not negative or sad) written at La Guardia airport waiting for a flight. Posting it here from the plane before take-off. Not a true story at all, and after I finished it got to thinking that it’s maybe not what I might call a truly “happy” lyric but it’s close. I may put music to this once I’m back home.]

Lyrics:

V1:
A couple of shows, in a couple of bars
Dirty streets, too many cars
Early mornings, later nights
Not much time to see the sites

Thinking of you every day
Wish I hadn’t gone away
This city life is not for me
When the job is over, time to flee

CH:
Flying Home to You
Riding on this pillow made of clouds
In the sky so blue
Flying Home to You
The trip is over no more city crowds
On the bustling avenue
I'm Flying Home to You

V1:
Sleeping in this single bed
Hotel pillows rock my head
Hard to fall asleep like this
Missing your sweet goodnight kiss

Lunch with old friends had some fun
Sharing stories one by one
From the present to the past
But those old tales aren’t meant to last

CH:
Flying Home to You
Riding on this pillow made of clouds
In the sky so blue
Flying Home to You
The trip is over no more city crowds
On the bustling avenue
I'm Flying Home to You

That chorus (and the transition to it from the verse) is killer and those harmonies are sweet. The song get's sweeter the closer they get. Great job. Enjoyed.

ill place this song right next to simon and garfunkles homeward bound as a song of road sickness and a longing for home.

Aww I think it's happy, well the chorus and outcome is Smile
It's a really classy singer songwriter song. Reminds me a little of early Simon & Garfunkel (showing my age here, sorry). I really enjoyed my listen, thank you.

Nice how your voice soars when flying. The delivery of the lyrics so fits the emotion in the song. I really like this song

Always love your lyrics and guitar/vocal delivery. Lovely harmonies and wonderful relatable lyric. Pre 3/20 I travelled a lot with my work and always their was a sense of happy anticipation on the flight home. You capture that brilliantly. Great skirmish!
