Liner Notes:

Many fangs go to Georgie who wrote this sharp lyric and I tried to add a bit of bite (he said sheepishly...)

Lyrics:

Can you hear the distant howling getting closer in the night
The hissing and the growling as our hearts beat fast in fright
The hairs on our necks have stood up this way before
Tryin’ to keep the wolves from the door

Turning pockets inside out
Ducking bills from town to town
Hiding from the law
In Shawnee Hills to Wichita

We know it’s time to run and we’d better change our names
When the dime fin’lly drops folks’ll shake their heads in shame

Can you hear the distant howling getting closer in the night
The hissing and the growling as our hearts beat fast in fright
The hairs on our necks have stood up this way before
Tryin’ to keep the wolves from the door

We stay in the shadows
Keeping on the down low
Won’t get too familiar
Won’t be long before we go

The county sheriff dreams of getting cuffs on us
There’s a bounty on our heads and we don’t know who to trust

One day it might be nice for us to live a normal life
But ‘til then there’ll be no place like home
We shelter from the dawn take our cover in the night
Never in the black but forever the red zone

Can you hear the distant howling getting closer in the night
The hissing and the growling as our hearts beat fast in fright
The hairs on our necks have stood up this way before
Tryin’ to keep the wolves from the door
Tryin to keep the wolves from the door
Tryin to keep the wolves from the door…

georgie has outdone herself with this lyric and nobody could have done such an excellent job in bringing it to life as gwyn.

Love the choice to start the song with the chorus. These is a bar song if I've ever heard one, like a band on the stage in a real gritty, dangerous feeling bar. Very solid lyrics and that delivery is on point!

Really enjoyed this. A great fit between the lyrics and music. Certainly a pub rocker and needs to be played loud live.

Gorgeous funky groove. I love wolf-related stories, and the metaphor is used brilliantly here. Great storytelling and terrific performance. Smile
