Liner Notes:

It's been raining a lot here. My mom loved the rain. I miss her. I think she would would like this. She much preferred my soft songs to my rock stuff. Silly mother. Rock is for everyone. :P

Quick phone recording. I accidentally put echo on this, then decided I kinda liked it. By tomorrow I may hate it.

Lyrics:

When the rain, when the rain
Comes pouring down
Then the sound of your voice
Comes back around
And memories flood my mind
Washing me back in time
And I can’t stop the storm

Black clouds came in so fast
No time to think, no time to say sorry
Everything was shutting down
The worst part of it was
Nothing could stop it

When the rain
Comes pouring down
Then the sound of your voice
Comes around, back around
And memories flood my mind
Washing me back in time
And I can’t stop the storm

When memories flood my mind
They wash me back in time
And I can’t stop the storm
No I can’t stop the storm

Oh Val, I know your mother would love this! It is so hard missing our moms. This is so tender and emotional and tugs on my heart.

I love your sound on this and the hook, with your phrasing, is really effective. Like your mom, I really love the unplugged sound of your ballads. Your vocals are amazing and I really like the chord progressing and strum. Tugs at the heart-strings so gorgeously.

Nice uke work and lovely delivery giving the lyric plenty of space. Mums are always missed, never changes.

I love the quiet intensity of this. And that subtle slapback echo works for me. The idea of being washed backwards in time is going to stick with me from this. It's a memorable image.

Loving the girl with uke turn this year. Love the full band sound stuff too but this is like a gentle respite. Either way you look at it, the songwriting and that distinctive voice shines through. I'm sure your mom would love this too. Beautiful.
Thanks so much for your kind words on my first, my friend. Your encouragement over the years is much appreciated!

Interesting association, to then sing about, - nice flow, sound.

Damn, this is what I want to be writing. Heartfelt, touching lyrics and delivery, and gorgeous rhythmic use of the uke with those sus chords. Right in the feels again. I'm with your mum, the quiet stuff is amazing.

This is truly beautiful and very moving. I enjoy your rock stuff but it is nice to get the softer side of Val. Your delivery of the vocals is very impressive, there's a laid back feel to the delivery that I love. This is a really wonderful song and I'm glad I listened to it!
