Liner Notes:

I'm starting with a bang. Or, in this case, quiet introspection. Taking some inspiration from Ray LaMontagne's track with the same name, this one is more of a look inside than his track.

Lyrics:

I wish my heart would be still
And silent for a while
I wish the buzzing in my ears
Was a song to make me smile

But the distance from myself
Is enough to fill the sea
The ground I cover will turn back
And the pattern will repeat

Why can’t I be?
Why can’t I be here?
Why can’t I be here now with you?

The rain falls heavy from the clouds
And the waters start the rise
I feel like half the man I was
As a young, ambitious child

Why can’t I be?
Why can’t I be here?
Why can’t I be here now with you?

Wreck me if you must
To peel away the rust
That covers both my eyes
With shades of black and white
And get me on my feet
So I can finally be here now…

If my will is strong and tall
As the mountains and the trees
I can venture through the dark
And winter’s evil freeze

Why can’t I be?
Why can’t I be here?
Why can’t I be here now?
With you...

such a pretty song. guitar and vocals comlement each other with such sad tenderness. i truly believe the singer wants to be with the person he is next to (excuse me if i misinterpret, but this is how i feel it)

That is some awesome, atmospheric interplay between the guitars, and your vocal is haunting. Beautiful, compelling song.

So lovely, with the delicate guitar, your awesome singing, and evocative words all combining into a hypnotizing listen that I just want to close my eyes and soak in. The bridge absolutely reached out and grabbed me. Wonderful way to start your 50/90!

Thank you for such a moving and gentle but powerful offering. I melted into your song.

That's just the right amount of reverb on the vocals. They're haunting without being echo-y. This reminds me of a famous song whose name eacapes me right now... Point is, this is seriously quality work! The understated guitar is perfect.

Oh, the band I'm thinking of is a goth band I listened to on Spotify. Not top 20 stuff, but definitely quality. Ack! Can't remember the name of the band!!!

Anyway, I really enjoyed this. Thanks. Smile

Classic singer songwriter song. Very mellow and well delivered. Lyrically really good language use. I particularly like Wreck me if you must
To peel away the rust
That covers both my eyes
With shades of black and white. Nice one.

I like the way you space the lyrics. Learning to allow the listener to follow along is important is what I am taking away from your experience. Thank you for a lovely song.
