Liner Notes:

Skirmish prompt: unexpected

Lyrics:

you

V1
I glanced up
from reading
a book sometime
late last night
you sat there
yawning with
a look somehow
not quite right

our eyes met
like we both knew
that our time was
counting down
and almost through

C
I am not sure what it was
as no words were shared
but I know we both had the
same thoughts in that
unexpected moment....
the unexpected moment
we had there

V2
I stood up
and smiled
at you somewhat
one more time
you came near
reaching out
we hugged somehow
long and tight

tears fell down
knowing why
into whispered
hushed loving
sad good byes

C
I am not sure what it was
as no words were shared
but I know we both had the
same thoughts in that
unexpected moment....
the unexpected moment
we had there

B
I had expected the unexpected
but I didn’t expect it then
I was prepared to be unprepared
but didn’t prepare for when

C
I am not sure what it was
as no words were shared
but I know we both had the
same thoughts in that
unexpected moment....
the unexpected moment
we had there

Great lyrics. They read like the intimate conversations between two lovers facing the end. You set out the thoughts of two people undergoing something big and of course something unexpected.

Very nice. The bridge is a beauty! A sad tale of that unexpected moment of enlightenment

Oh this is beautiful, and quite sad.... and really thought provoking.........when you can have a deep and meaningful conversation with just a look isn't that worth holding onto? really excellent write here!

I like the rhythm in your lyric. It has a slightly unexpected but still solid feeling to it.

Oh damn, this is so sad! What perfectly crafted lyrics. I am totally in the moment with these two people. There is no villain. They are both suffering this unexpected timing. I love how tenderly and cleverly you have written this. And that bridge is perfect! Great work (as always!!!!)

This is beautifully so sad, you crafted a smart lyric that makes the listener think, and it put me back in the places in my past where I've experienced a similar situation - nice job Liz!
