Liner Notes:

This is another cheatypants skirmish, since again I didn't see the prompt until much later. The prompt for today's skirmish was "work" or variations thereof, and this came out. I love getting to sit in my living room and yell into the mic for stuff like this. My dogs don't love it so much. Also my wife did the solo!

Lyrics:

I see you standing there
Hands in your pockets and a vacant stare
Well I got a double dare for you

Pick yourself up off the ground
Get your engine going with a roaring sound
Tell me now, whatcha gonna do?

Where are you going
Where have you been
It's time to stand back up and start again

So go
Go put on your finest show
You know
Yeah you know I told you so
So let's go
Don't you ever take it slow
You gotta work, gotta work, gotta work, gotta work for it
You gotta work, gotta work, gotta work, gotta work for it

Girl, whatcha waiting for
Gotta bite the bullet and get out on the floor
The world's always crying out for more, you know

Will you cave in or not
Get yourself together, show em what you've got
It's never what you thought long ago

So where are you going
Where have you been
It's time to stand back up and start again

So go
Go put on your finest show
You know
Yeah you know I told you so
So let's go
Don't you ever take it slow
You gotta work, gotta work, gotta work, gotta work for it
You gotta work, gotta work, gotta work, gotta work for it

So go
Go put on your finest show
You know
Yeah you know I told you so
So let's go
Don't you ever take it slow
You gotta work, gotta work, gotta work, gotta work for it
You gotta work, gotta work, gotta work, gotta work for it
You gotta work, gotta work, gotta work, gotta work for it
You gotta work, gotta work, gotta work, gotta work for it

Love the drive and fuzzy guitar tone. Great hook with the "gotta work" repetition. Great job getting all those words out clearly in the verses. I like the doubled guitar lead too. Good song with a positive message!

Love this! Very punky and your voice reminds me of a mix of Shirley Mansen and Blondie Biggrin Lovely little mix there ahah

The lyrics are great and work rhythmically and sound smooth with the melody, not too harsh on the ears Biggrin

Cool message and what fun music for a 'cheatypants' skirmish!

Liking this a lot. Really catchy chorus, the guitars are punchy, and the double tracking on the lead vocal gives it a terrifically punky quality.

Great classic pop-punk sound--love the vocals, and the repeated "gotta work" is an excellent hook. Ditto the doubled guitar solo! I also like the lyrics--sometimes you've just got to give yourself a kick in the ass and get to it, yeah?

Ahhh what a fun and powerful punk song! I am so loving your music this year! Your lyrics are tight with a strong melody and an outstanding performance! Great hook along with the repeated "gotta work" phrase makes it a treat every time it comes around! Your wife's solo is really nice too! Really awesome work Robyn!

So energetic, so fuzzy, and so cheeky! Listening to this song, I could feel the room filling with enthusiastic young people jumping up and down and pumping their fists. I hope you get the chance to play this live - you'd bring the house down.

A really fun, upbeat song. Very catchy. Reminds me of the Breeders too, which is a very good thing indeed!

Fantastic song! I love the upbeat pop punk feel! You nailed the groove perfectly and your vocals are fantastic! The lyrics are both compelling and fun. would be an awesome song to dance around to live. Not the same dancing alone my bedroom
