Another wry slice of life from Cindy Prince...this time on ballroom dancing and the perils thereof...

Lyrics:

I want you badly
I want a romance
But I don't know what to do
About how well you can dance

You want a partner
To keep up with you
Not me with my two left feet
Which neither know what to do

All your fancy steps have me in awe
You can tango and you can cha cha cha
You can swing and you can bolero
It's been said you can even flamenco

I want you so much
If I could only master
How to swirl you round the dance floor
Without putting you in plaster

You want a dancer
Who won't step on your toes
That will look sensational
As they hold you close

All your fancy steps have me in awe
You can tango and you can cha cha cha
You can swing and you can bolero
It's been said you can even flamenco

Can I ever be as light as air
I sure won't ever be Fred Astaire
‘Cos you’re like Ginger as they would rehearse
Doing everything that he did but in reverse

All your fancy steps have me in awe
You can tango and you can cha cha cha
You can swing and you can bolero
It's been said you can even flamenco

This is fancy feet good! I love the additions (especially Ginger Rogers!) This is just delightful! Thank you!

Thanks Cindy...I heard that Ginger Rogers was a better dancer than Fred Astaire because she had to learn all the moves but in reverse!

The only thing that could make me enjoy this song more is if you swore that Cindy was the one playing the castanets way off there to the left of the audio spectrum. At least, let me live with that belief...

Gwyn--you've impressed me again with this vocal, so different from the country stuff I've raved about before. Great treatment on the vocal--perfect reverb. A very nice collab, you guys. Especially those castanets THAT CINDY DID!!

Of course Jerry...Cindy provided the castanets et al via the power of suggestion in her lyric! Smile Thanks again for such a lovely response...

Oh this is wonderful! I love the marimba and castanets! The flow is absolutely lovely and the lyrics make me smile! Definitely makes me want to dance!

Thanks Elizabeth...Cindy's words set the tone and it was fun to join in...

Greatly enjoyable! Like the little reminders after every dance stepper. And that elvis-operatic vocal takes you through the ballroom with a feeling for a beach, love and definitely sth. more...

since i read cindys lyric, i have been waiting to hear what someone would do wth it. so glad it was gwyn. he found the precise spot in which to dig for the style, the melody, the arrangmet, the vocal performance it all came up and out so perfectly.

Yep Cindy's lyric set the whole glitter ball spinning and I'm so pleased that you enjoyed it! Thank you...

Four bars in and I was sitting here with a huge grin on my face. And it got bigger with each verse - the lyrics are a hoot and they are delivered with such straight-faced aplomb that all I can do is applaud. This is one of the finest collabs I've heard this year - the arrangement *perfectly* gets the mood of the lyrics. Great job, folks!

Damn Gwyn! This is so pretty! If Chris Isaak and Elvis lived in Jamaica and/or Spain and had a baby...that would be this lovely song!!! Your performance, as always is stellar!

And Cindy, these are the most beautiful lyrics! I love the section about Fred and Ginger! Really great writing (as you always do!!)

Really awesome collaboration!
