Liner Notes:

Started on 8 May 2020. I basically just wrote the bridge tonight and polished the music a bit. But another song out of the idea folder and in the 50/90 folder. *cheer*

Lyrics:

I don't know
And I don't care
What you're saying about me
Through your jaw clenched glare

But I ain't leaving
Got nowhere to go
I'll be sittin' here drinkin'
Until God only knows

Now's not the time to pull your shit
Like you always do
I thought you knew
It's not about you

I've got a quarter
For the machine
Pick out a sad song
If you know what I mean

I feel like crying
But I don't have the tears
Won't you play something
To help me disappear

Now's not the time to pull your shit
Like you always do
I thought you knew
It's not about you

you may have hurt me walkin' out the door
But somebody else hurt me even more
Tonight I'm not thinking about you
So do me a favor and just walk away
I'll cry about you some other day
Tonight I'm just not in the mood

Now's not the time to pull your shit
Like you always do
I thought you knew
It's not about you
I thought you knew
It's not about you

Great song. I'm old enough to know what the quarter, the machine, and the song means.

I've been there, actually, when I was younger. i could have maybe written this at one time or another, but I'm glad you did it, and I'm enjoying it.

i like the way you pick up on the second half of the verses...pushing the flow. nice melodic changes on the chorus, and a great hook.

nice one - lyrically very country but i like it more in this singer songwriter style

That is a classic hurtin' song with a great twist. Well done.

Ooh, these lyrics are great. Down-to-earth and relatable. I especially like the second set of verses ("Pick out a sad song . . . I feel like crying/but I don't have the tears").
