Liner Notes:

About wishing you met in better circumstances, but pulling through anyway. To hell with how things should've been.

Lyrics:

We're polar forces, that's just a fact
my friends keep telling me opposites attract
Won't I bore you, baby?
I'll do anything for you, baby

Hey, yeah, in a perfect world
We grew up in the same town, same classes
In a perfect world
You and I had the same damn chances
We'd be allowed together, we'd make it through
In a perfect world, I'd wake up next to you
It's a halfway perfect world - 'cos I do

I'm feeling crazy, I'm feeling weak
I can't control myself, I can barely speak
You won't exhaust me, baby
You didn't force me, baby

Hey, yeah, in a perfect world
We grew up in the same town, same classes
In a perfect world
You and I had the same damn chances
We'd be allowed together, we'd make it through
In a perfect world, I'd wake up next to you
It's a halfway perfect world - 'cos I do

It turns out north and south
Would draw me out, would draw me out
It turns out you're the one I couldn't go without
A common obsession found in weekend mornings
A fixable Earth should never have been in doubt

It's a perfect world
I find myself looking forward to the next day
It's a perfect world
'Cos we shouldn't've but we found each other anyway
I'm not perfect, I know this
But I love you and I can't afford to blow this
It's a halfway perfect woah-oh-oh

(Hey, yeah, in a perfect world)
We grew up in the same town, same classes
In a perfect world
You and I had the same damn chances
We'd be allowed together, we'd make it through
In a perfect world, I'd wake up next to you
It's a halfway perfect world - 'cos I do

I like how you're turning this notion of perfect over, looking at it from different angles. It's a halfway perfect, in ways it is perfect, this is perfect, though humans are imperfect, we are together and trying.

I like the musing on poles as well, opposites, north and south.

And as always, with the songs of yours I've heard, the melody is strong, the performance really keeps my attention. This is not a song for flashy guitar playing, I suppose, it's focused on the story.

Love the sentiment expressed in this song and its exploration of (perceived) perfection vs. reality. "In a perfect world I'd wake up next to you/It's a halfway perfect world 'cos I do" is just a great lyric. Solid melody and guitar, as always.

My memory is that of Forgetful Jones from Sesame Street. But I remembered that I loved your stuff last year, and now I'm getting around to listening this year.
I think it's the mix of your voice and your vocal melodies that I like so much. And this track displays both.
I echo the other comments regarding the lyrics - excellent writing with strong emotion. The way you sing makes all your lyrics more potent, at least for my ears.
Looking forward to listening to the rest of your stuff.

Listening again, besides a story that I like, the melody is what really makes this interesting. Big jumps, but then for the bridge you go to a smaller range of notes.

I assume you're singing kind of quietly right now because of a housing/neighbors/roomates/privacy kind of thing. I think I've heard you sing more "loud" in the past? I'd particularly like to hear this one with full voice, to see how that changes things.
