Liner Notes:

This is a keeper, finally.

I might make more songs like this and make a roots set.

Have a nice weekend yalll.

Lyrics:

You were mine - I was yours
You were right - I was wrong
You were having a garden party - I was drowning
At the honkey tonk

And the fire burns - like desire
Yeah the fire burns - like blood
And the fire burns - like desire
Yeah the fire burns - like blood

You were mine - I was yours
In the sunshine, through the storm
But in the valley of insobriety
I raised my deceiving forearm

And the fire burns - like desire
Yeah the fire burns - like blood
And the fire burns - like desire
Yeah the fire burns - like blood

You were mine - was I yours ?
The question lingered and I was wrong
A life in limbo is what you gave me
And here I am, I linger on

Instrumental

Were you mine? - I was yours
There’s no answer in a song
But if you’re lonesome and you need me
Pick me up at the honkey tonk

wow! Terrific vocal on these excellent lyrics. You're getting a very nice sound on that guitar, too. Really a good one!

Love your voice! This rootsy folk style suits you well. I like the chorus--simple but powerful.

Really like those changes minor/major/minor, adds a layer of compelxity below the vocal line. Good voice! and putting the lyrics across well. The lyric shifting ending up with "Were you mine? I was yours". Clever and effective. Good stuff! (yep, definitely a keeper!!)

Definitely a keeper. The only thing that tripped me up as a listener was the second half of the second verse; "insobriety" really clouted me around the ears for some reason. The chorus, though, is gorgeous. And beautifully delivered, all the way through.

And I'm gonna steal that idea of using cable trunking on the top of your Rode PSA-1. Looks much tidier than cable ties!

Great vocals and performance! I am liking the roots style you have going. The chords shifting from major to minor adds a unique element.
