Liner Notes:

This started with the Colorado University cafeteria named for a cannibal, and built in experimental layers from there.

Lyrics:

We saw the signs and they said “Kilroy Was Here” - until he wasn’t
We saw the signs and they said “Go West”
We saw the signs and they said “Proceed at your own risk”
We saw the signs and they said “Abandon All Hope”

We staggered down the mountain dizzy and snowblind
We staggered down the mountain together - and alone
We staggered down the mountain lighter - and heavier
We staggered down the mountain, and the valley threatened to swallow us whole

We parted ways and averted our eyes
We parted ways, seeking our fortunes elsewhere
We parted ways. One is silver, and one is gold.
We parted ways, and we said, verily, “let’s do lunch.”

When we climb down from these hills
Meet you for dinner at the Alferd Packer Grill
When we climb down from these hills
Meet you for dinner at the Alferd Packer Grill

Our stories merge on microfiche in the state historical society
Our stories merge on tourist posters in log-cabin gourmet restaurants
Our stories merge in the experimental glamour of college freshmen
Our stories merge, much as we’d give to return and disentangle them

When we climb down from these hills
Meet you for dinner at the Alferd Packer Grill
When we climb down from these hills
Meet you for dinner at the Alferd Packer Grill
When we climb down from these hills
Meet you for dinner at the Alferd Packer Grill
When we climb down from these hills
Meet you for dinner at the Alferd Packer Grill

Well I had to google old Alfred. Which sheds a bit of light on this story.

I like that bass line, and the muted (guitar?), and the restrained synth bits. Seems a bit like a talking heads song, one of the weirder ones.

Hah, the experimental glamour of college freshmen. That was a while ago, now I see them walk down my street and they look like children. Microfiche! Tourist posters in a log cabin GOURMET restaurant. Dang. I like that verse especially.

I like that outro too.

This was very enjoyable. Took me to a 50's coffee house, with you up on stage being all "beat" and everything and me nodding my head rhythmically at a table in the back and snapping my fingers over and over again after you were done.

Very nice! Great vocal and harmony there!

Oh so fun! I loved your delivery of words and the music is so spot on.

I know it's wrong that my stomach is now grumbling. Oh, it's 1 PM, it has nothing to do with the topic, um.... That's a really nice, downward-climbing melody when it kicks in, sweet harmonies. The quick tempoed drums and bass contrast nicely with the spoken word, and I even like how they're sitting back there, kind of doing their own thing, joined by the keys and others later. They're paying attention to the speaker, not judging, just jamming along, holding up the platform. I also googled and the stories are confusing, but that's in here too. Very cool take on this weird, new-to-me story.
