Liner Notes:

I read these lyrics from Cindy Prince @cindyrella and thought they were very emotive and just brilliant. Cindy kindly allowed me to add some music. I initially thought a bluesy style but it didn't quite end up that way, although a nice triplet feel. I also thought I'd like to use my very old version of Cubase and some VST's. I no longer have a working keyboard so programming it took me a little longer than I was hoping. Also, and a lesson learnt, when you put a capo on your guitar and then use the chord shape names and not the name of the actual sounding chord, you will end up with VST instruments one tone lower than you expected!!

I did add one extra chorus after the bridge.

If anyone would like to re do the vocals then please let me know - my effort here is not as good as I would have hoped - although vocals are definitely not my strong point...

A big thanks to Cindy and please, if you haven't (and I do not know how you haven't), check out her lyrics and other collabs.

Vacant Lot
© 2020 Cindy Prince
There was a house there once
With a white picket fence
It's been such a long time since
Love lived there
There was a family then
Living out their days
It's changed in so many ways
Now it's bare

Chorus
It's just a vacant lot
No house now
But the memories live on
It's a sacred spot
I wonder how
So many places have gone

Bridge
Echoes of voices come through
Listen closely, you'll hear it too

Chorus
It's just a vacant lot
No house now
But the memories live on
It's a sacred spot
I wonder how
So many places have gone

There was everyday life
Holidays and games
Children's carved names
In the stairwell wood
There was laughter there
And a few tears
Living out their years
As well as they could

Repeat chorus

It took me a little to latch on to some of chordal changes but listening through I found they add an edge that wouldnt other wise be there. I like your chorus setting. Cindy, lyrics are good as always. You're on a roll.
