Liner Notes:

I saw the prompt and suddenly remembered a very vivid dream I had about 15 years ago. In the dream I was a black Civil War soldier and I was hiding
in a cave. Thought I'd write about that.

Lyrics:

Another Reality
© 2020 Cindy Prince

I felt afraid
In a cave
Hiding from the men in blue

My skin was black
I stayed far back
I just had to make it through

I heard them fire
I perspired
Wondering if I was hidden well

I was wearing grey
Began to pray
As I heard the other men yell

Chorus
Was I somehow him
Or him me
Could I remember
Another century
Was it a dream
Or another reality

I felt so alone
In that war zone
Thought I was doing right

The other men
Wanted to win
There was no end in sight

I felt choked
When I awoke
The dream was far too real

I was still scared
How had I fared
What did my dream reveal

Repeat chorus

Could be. I wonder how I sometimes dream in French, but can't speak the language.

Those sustained rhymes are so compact! Definitely a strange dream to try to find meaning in.

Amazing write for a skirmish! The emotion of the dream really comes through. Wonderful work!

Ohh, I love this idea of your dream possibly being you remembering a past life. The way you have each line so succinct and vivid is brilliant. Excellent writing.

Good concise write that paints the picture clearly. Can't help but notice that your character, or you, was a Rebel. Good skirmish.

What an interesting and intense dream and you convey it so well in this lyric.

Wow, what a dream! The lyrics really convey the sense of fear and urgency the narrator is experiencing.
