Liner Notes:

yeahyeah, in the States and online they're shopping CARTS, but here in Oz they're trolleys. Besides, Coles means nothing in the northern hemisphere, but half of Australia here. So live with it. And yes, I have spoken to a psychologist about this unfortunate fixation I have with zombie trolleys. Her advice: teach the trolleys some Zen exercises and I'll feel much better.

NOBODY'S TROLLEY [FT]

I'm nobody's trolley,
On the wrong side of the track.
Nobody's trolley,
No-one wants me back
The trolley people walk on by
And look the other way
Burnt and rusted here I lie
In rotting leaves I stay
Nobody's trolley,
On the wrong side of the track.
Nobody's trolley,
No-one wants me back

Once I shone in red and chrome
Embraced by all who held me
Across this track, Coles was my home
My lovers there propelled me

But come one winter morning bleak
Some sloth failed to return me
A hater threw me in the creek
Then pulled me out to burn me

So here I lie, a trolley
On the wrong side of the track.
Nobody's trolley,
No-one wants me back
The trolley people walk on by
And look the other way
Burnt and rusted here I lie
In rotting leaves I stay
Nobody's trolley,
On the wrong side of the track.
Nobody's trolley,
No-one wants me back

A big LOL to this ode to a shopping cart... who ever would have thought!!
I just love how relatable your words were, Tim. And thank you for the liner notes, as you prepared me for what was meant by "trolley".
I could almost picture a homeless person singing this song, after someone stealing his stolen or "borrowed" trolley.

Reminds me of Eric Bogle's "Nobody's Moggy Now" but entirely your own. I've never felt so much sympathy for a trolley. This is definitely an interesting take on the music hall song. Very sweet and also amusing.

A first...to be sure. Homage to a Trolley Cart
Your delivery is hilarious....as are the lyrics.
And yet so plaintive

Well done

Quite simply, you are the king of the australian music hall.

this is wonderful! the music and lyric are a perfect fit, and that vocal delivery gives it the right amount of fun drama.... well done! great fun! and timeless in its own way!

and a great idea, that 'take on the persona of an inanimate object' thing-
