Liner Notes:

Saw this a little late, but it's a two hour skirmish so I took the whole time working/reworking the lyric.

Lyrics:

I can see the look in your eye
There's no need to say the word, 'goodbye'
You've been halfway out the door for days

I don't think you ever believed
I think you always knew that you would leave
You thought that you'd get out without a trace

You're a snake in the grass
You brought my world down with a crash
And I thought you'd be the one
You're a snake in the grass
You broke my heart like shattered glass
And you don't give a damn 'bout what you've done
But I'm gonna be okay

You told me you would stay
Everything would be okay
But now I'm all alone in this house

Nothing you said was true
Don't know why I fell in love with you
I can't believe the words coming out of your mouth

You're a snake in the grass
You brought my world down with a crash
And I thought you'd be the one
You're a snake in the grass
You broke my heart like shattered glass
And you don't give a damn 'bout what you've done
I'm gonna be okay

I don't know why you would tell me you loved me
If you knew you wouldn't be here
I don't know why you would lie and mislead me
If you knew that you would disappear

You're a snake in the grass
You brought my world down with a crash
And I thought you'd be the one
You're a snake in the grass
You broke my heart like shattered glass
And you don't give a damn 'bout what you've done
I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be okay

Very nice guitar/vocal combination. The lyrics for the chorus are very good - they match the music really well.

Love that chorus! Excellent use of the “snake in the grass” metaphor and great acoustic-rock energy. Terrific skirmishing!

Yes, the chorus is very strong. Well performed all the way through. It all works.

nicely done! I like the almost pre-rock chord changes you have going on in this, and the vocal phrasing fits the music and lyric so well. a big 'plus one. too, for those multiple 'glass/grass/crash rhymes, too...and i like the bridge-and coda....

Super skirmish! It amazes me how quickly you can crank out great songs. Love the strum pattern here and the very relatable lyrics. Nice emotion coming through in your vocals!

Very nice, relatable song. Amazing how it was created during skirmish.

Great chord changes and rhythm guitar playing! And I like the defiant soul of your voice. Of course, you do those kinds of things well all the time.

This is nice! that melody and stuttery rhythmic chord gallop going into the chorus hits the ears nicely! nice abrupt ending that puts a cap on that last line too! as a final statement.
