Those Old Shoes

Lyrics:

Cause I’m walking In those shoes again
Making my way back to where I once had been
Im walking, In those old shoes again
Coming back to find the life that I once left
Im thinking, With my head again,
Feels just like it did when I was seventeen
Im singing Like I used to sing
Stumbling backward down the street following the tread

Am I growling old,
Struggling to let go,
Of the man I was,
Twenty years ago
If I could only know,
The world that’s taken hold,
Maybe I could leave this,
old road alone, old road alone

But Im walking, In those shoes again
Finding all the places in the picture that I’ve seen
But Im walking, In those old shoes again
Wandering down back alleys trying to recognise them
Im trying, To live the past again,
Chasing shadows round this town to find myself a friend
Am I lost,In yesterday,
Cause every street look different, every face has slightly changed

Am I growling old,
Struggling to let go,
Of the man I was,
Twenty years ago
If I could only know,
The world that’s taken hold,
Maybe I could leave this,
old road alone, old road alone

But Im walking, In those old shoes again, those shoes again

Just darkly nostalgic, a mid-life crisis maybe, a dread of impending death, or simply the eternal dismay at change we cannot stop or put the brakes on? Songs like this one work so well because they DON'T get too specific about their angst / emotional content, and are therefore relatable to many people in many situations.

Well done, and a fine performance too.

Great bluesy voice delivering what feels like a timeless classic...which is a testament to your songwriting skills...
