Liner Notes:

I'm a baseball dad.

This is a song about my son's (Footling#2) game this evening (in which he pitched a complete game after getting a line drive off his leg in the first inning and getting plunked on his back while batting in the second). Kid's a good player and I'm proud of him for keeping going.

The vocal tone is deliberate -- I haven't lost my voice nor am I in jeopardy of losing my voice. Just thought it worked to give a raw edge to the sound. You are welcome to disagree and tell me never to do this again. LOL

Lyrics:

set em up
sit em down
let it rip
let it fly

find the zone
make em swing
pitch it in
done me proud

it's a battle sometimes
Going out on the hill
it's a struggle often
Throwing that little pill

you got smacked around
a little bit at first
but by the bitter end
the other team looked cursed

set em up
sit em down
let it rip
let it fly

find the zone
make em swing
pitch it in
done me proud

bet you didn't know that
coach would leave you out there
after the shot off your leg
but trust me, that he cared

he was testing you
to see if you'd bounce back
and you really did
and you picked up the slack

set em up
sit em down
let it rip
let it fly

find the zone
make em swing
pitch it in
done me proud

I think the vocal works for you! a good Lou Reed hahah, I love his stuff dearly, but man some of it......... and I'm a sucker for a good baseball song Wink
You're voice might hurt after that last verse though! haha

Digging this raw edge, and chord progression and would like to hear more. Song describes the accomplishment quite well!

RAWHIDE!

I'm always inclined to be friendly to a song from one's real life, with feelings that come from the heart. I cut my live performance teeth in China, where a genuine emotion will go a long, long way.

I agree with dzd; this does evoke Lou Reed.

Yes, definite Lou Reed sound on this one. As a Basball Dad as well, I know how you feel. Great song!
