Liner Notes:

Some of the tarot songs I write have a lot to do with the traditional meaning of the cards. Sometimes, though, it's just about what the image on the card conjures up in my head, and this was one of those times. (The traditional image on the card is of a person juggling two coins in front of a tossing sea.) It's a weird one, and it definitely needs some polishing, but hey, this is 50/90 and I'm going for quantity over quality of recordings right now. This took me multiple takes, and I ended up recording it in three layers on my phone. I don't love where it's at now, but I'm looking forward to going back and polishing it at some point.

Lyrics:

Come one, come all
To the carnival
(The spectacle by the sea)
Where barkers calls
From colorful stalls
(The spectacle by the sea)

The boardwalk's packed
It's a balancing act
(The spectacle by the sea)
To keep your feet
In the crowded street
(The spectacle by the sea)

Two, then three
Then four, then more
The juggler tosses
Their flaming swords
Back to four
Then three, and two
Will they share
The secret with you

Beneath tightrope walks
If these tents could talk
(The spectacle by the sea)
The stories they'd tell
Make a heaven of hell
(The spectacle by the sea)

Two, then three
Then four, then more
The juggler tosses
Their flaming swords
Back to four
Then three, and two
Will they share
The secret with you

(The spectacle by the sea)

this is certainly an odd dutty, and one that kept me intrugued throughout. i especually liked the alternate voice for the spectacle by the sea lines.it brought donovan to mind.

hypnotic and fun! had to turn my speakers all the way up tho- you might want to mix louder (and maybe a little bit of compression would 'balance out' the parts nicely)

fun song!

This is a nice one, i would love to hear a recorded version you are more happy with, because i quite enjoyed listening to this phone version.

There's a real time gone by feel to this.

I get transported to an easier time. When I was still amazed by things I saw. Like spectacles by the sea!

Very cool... emotionally drawn to that different place.
