Liner Notes:

Written for superskirmish ss071120o with the theme 'Midnight Train'.

I am really not happy with this lyric, it's very rough.

Lyrics:

There's a midnight train to nowhere
Running past the people who
Have no home to call their own
A midnight train to nowhere
For those who cannot go

There's a line that runs through the night
Carrying the darkest shift
Those who sleep when others wake
Home from drudgery and boredom
Home to bed and the warming sun

There's a midnight train to nowhere
Running past the people who
Have no home to call their own
A midnight train to nowhere
For those who cannot go

Endless ants with palest faces
Drudgery of epic scale
Doing what the rest of us
Cannot bear the thought of doing
Letting others do our dirty work

There's a midnight train to nowhere
Running past the people who
Have no home to call their own
A midnight train to nowhere
For those who cannot go

I like that you started with the chorus. It has kind of a subtle bleakness to it that I find enticing and sets the stage for the rest of the lyric.

Nice job with the prompt. I like the imagery you have created and I agree, starting with the chorus was a great idea.

A great take on the prompt - the title itself is so provocative. It sets the scene for the rest of the song.

I like the direction you went in. Great imagery. Nice metaphor. Nice write.

Well, it's a skirmish. The idea's good, put it aside and work on later!
