I recorded it then added to the verses because they were a bit short. One take after the re-write and here we are.

Superskirmish 071120H "Heavy Rain" moderated by the estimable @IA

Lyrics:

I was there when you told that lie
Made a fool of us both then you said goodbye
But you're still here, you won't go away
I think the truth is you're afraid

I don't know why you stand outside
When the rain is falling down
I think you'll drown in the rain

Daggers come out when you bare your heart
Cut you all to pieces and then tear you apart
I wouldn't be surprised if you cut and run
After all the cowardly things you've done

I don't know why you stand outside
When the rain is falling down
I think you'll drown in the rain

Nothing's ever gonna be the same
If you insist on standing in the rain
It's enough to drive me insane

I don't know why you stand outside
When the rain is falling down
I think you'll drown in the rain

Nice lyric. Sweet melody. Metaphor works real well here. Outside in the rain conjures up great images. Nice work.

I like the walk down on the "When the rain is falling down" line. And that chord right after. Cool. Almost jazzy of you. Wink
The chorus lyrics are very relatable too. Some people just don't get it, do they. They'll catch cold if they stand in the rain too long, eh?

Wow all this and a rewrite in a skirmish. Impressive!

Pretty music for a sad topic, nice junxtapositioning. Some real good lines,

Love the guitar line in your intro, syncopated in a cool way. Nice playing and singing throughout as well. Love the switch to the minor chord on "drown" - very nice touch. Bravo!

Love this. Your songs resonate with me so much and it truly amaze me how you can write such great lyrics and do such wonderful engaging music in such a short time - even if you did have to go back and add on to the verses.

Really nice the bit odd rhythming of the verses. Small town tales yea?

The chorus really does stand out and the chord change on 'drown' creates a lot of interest to hook the listener in.

Excellent stuff. Clearly, you gotta do even more skirmishes!
