Liner Notes:

I woke up late, saw there was 45 minutes left and loved the prompt so I tried to create a little something.

EDIT: I've already changed the lyrics a little. I think this one is a keeper!

you're runnin' here
flyin' there
pullin' out
your thinnin' hair
no time to do
everything you want
today, tomorrow
and beyond

slow down
you're movin' way too fast
slow down
and make that moment last
take your time
enjoy the laughter
don't need to worry
'bout ever after
slow down

you grab a shower
powder your nose
no time to stop
and smell the rose
you say you'll sniff it
another time
as it withers
on the vine

slow down
you're movin' way too fast
slow down
and make that moment last
take your time
enjoy the laughter
don't need to worry
'bout ever after
slow down

one day
you'll wake up old
find yourself
way down the road
you'll wish for things
you never did
and think
"ain't life a bitch"

slow down
you're movin' way too fast
slow down
and make that moment last
take your time
enjoy the laughter
don't need to worry
'bout ever after
slow down

I like that chorus. I'm singing it even after the song is over. That's always a good sign.

I really love the message and how your music and vocals convey it. It is compelling yet not preachy. Really fantastic take on the skirmish. Loved my listen!

Nice vocals/guitar - a relatable take on “Slow Down.” Kinda reminded me “Cat’s in the Cradle.”

Great take on the prompt - and yes, that chorus dose stick even when the songs stopped playing...

Wow, what a great song to be written and recorded in minutes! This is a great life lesson/life advice song. The guitar part is wonderful, it really moves the song along and your voice has such a fullness to it, like a wise authority figure that should be listened to. Great skirmish!

Another really nice one, John. Something intimate to this one, like a friend trying to steer a friend in the right direction.

I agree with you, John. This one is definitely a keeper. I can't even imagine where it will be when you come back to it and give it your full time and attention. I've missed every skirmish so far, but I'm still hopeful.
Cheers,
John

mmm I like this one both lyrics and guitar. Sometimes skirmishes really bring out good stuff! Definitely a keeper and I've kept it already! [EDIT] and on the lyrics: I'm at the stage of realizing that there is no "ever after", at least not in this world! That's a seriously good line and hook.

45 minutes? Damn! Well this is definitely a keeper. That chorus though... super solid. I love the pause to highlight down and then the faster run of lyrics and guitar strumming... almost like word painting. Was that on purpose? Very cool!

Boy, I really do like your "down home" folk style--vocal and guitar. Do you do much performing there in Chicago? I might have to pass through and come and see you.

This was terrific!
