Liner Notes:

Wacha posted the Horror Movie Song Title Challenge in the forums ( & I immediately took up the challenge. So, I got "Carnival Of Souls" as a prompt & thought right away I needed to do something with some carnival music. Enter my Kawai MS-710 Keyboard with that classic five note "Carnie Riff". Then it was just a matter of building guitar lines over top. I think what I like the most in this track is the rumbling, distorted bass (actually my Strat pitch-shifted down an octave c/o FSM's amazing TunaMan Buzz Machine) that just blows up in various sections. This was fun, though long. It jumps over the ten minute mark, so maybe make sure you've allotted enough time for a proper listen.

One other thing, this is song number 13. I find that mildly ironic & rather appropriate. Biggrin

Thanks for the warning! was just popping in for a minute or 5......I'll edit this after I give it a listen hahah starts out great though Smile

I think this may drive me sane Wink Reminds me of some stuff I've read on sensory saturation? experiments basically the opposite of sensory deprivation chambers, blasting people with dissonant sounds/flashing lights etc, quite interesting and varied results, but then it comes in waves....slowing back down to calm me back to normal before I start thinking rationally gods forbid hahah! Quite the wild ride I really enjoyed! Kaleidoscope colored bread tag? oh nope just a plain old yellow Smile I was waiting with anticipation for that carnie riff to kick back in roughly 7.5 8mins in Smile ....the delay and "bass" was a nice surprise instead Smile

Great stuff!

"Carnival of Souls" is a really weird and surreal horror film, so it suits your style well!
The deep bass is super awesome in my headphones.
The single-note line I'm finding to be really effective.
Ooh, then the bottom drops out and we're freefalling through some kind of dark and ominous void...
And then the monster horror bass makes another short appearance...
Before giving way to Twilight Zone guitar echoes...
Super atmospheric!
Well done!

This is what I imagine the opening credits of a movie about carnies and clowns would sound like. I felt my irrational fear of both during it, so I say goal accomplished! Great work

Very nice job on this. I love the carnival feel at the beginning and how it then melds in to something else as it goes. You captured and old, eerie movie feel very nicely in this. Really good use of the prompt!

Oooh - I imagine "Mary" (from the movie) playing that organ part! That low part kicking in is very scary!
