Liner Notes:

I started this song late on Sunday after another day of overtime. Man do I need a Holiday.

I thought I would do the weekly challenge.

My typical song from a basic starting plate.
Key C Major (easy, all the white notes 6 chords available (no Bdim) only majors or minors.
Drums first; 16 hats, 4 kick, 2 snare. add or subtract to taste.
Bass next; straight 8ths, adjust to taste
Piano chord on 1st beat
Picked a Tempo to suit, then a title. Chose 100 bpm and the title Invisible Armour??? (Soccer and Advert mix up)
worked out chord sequence saved song. Added instruments. Rinse and repeat over next 4 nights until happy.

The title suggested a set of lyrics. Being an old cynic, in a negative frame of mind, I had the idea of invisible armour protecting from the pain of rejection. Wrote suitable words, waiting for a day off to sing them, probably Saturday.

However...

On Friday I had to visit a bookmaker. Server down. If the server down they cant pay winnings. Unhappy punters. The lady behind counter took everything in her stride, deflected all negativity and pacified all unhappy punters. In the 3 hours it took to get the shop running again, she told me her story. Tonight, after work was the night she would see her partner again after 3 months of isolation. It was great to see her bouncing around, unaffected by the chaos around her.

Epiphany...

Maybe love is the invisible armour that keeps us safe

Rewrote Lyrics last night when I got home. Day off today, so could sing with revised lyrics.
If I had been working normally I would have sung this on Monday or Tuesday and this would be a very negative song.

Invisible Armour

All alone, isolated
Missing you, missing your touch
Videos call, nice to see you,
When this ends, I need to be with you

Lets make up for all lost time
I will be yours, will you be mine
Lets say that we will never part
I know that you will save my heart

When doubt creeps in
To kill my faith
Your invisible armour
Keeps me safe

Lets make up for all lost time
I will be yours, will you be mine
Lets say that we will never part
I know that you will save my heart

When doubt creeps in
To kill my faith
Your invisible armour
Keeps me safe

You and I bound together
You and I forever

Lets make up for all lost time
I will be yours, will you be mine
Lets say that we will never part
I know that you will save my heart

When doubt creeps in
To kill my faith
Your invisible armour
Keeps me safe

When doubt creeps in
To kill my faith
Your Invisible armour
Keeps me safe

Wow, what a great take on love. A lovely story on how you got to the concept and the song. I love the arrangement, it has a great dreamy, synth pop feel to it. This is a great song about the strength of love. The idea of love being an invisible armor is beautiful.

Love the story of why you rewrote the lyrics. Arrangement sounds very epic and shimmery, nice pop feel. I really like the melody of what I suspect you'd call the pre-chorus. Sounds great.

I'm getting Pet Shop Boys vibes off the music.

I keep thinking the ones that got away while reading the music... and the feeling of did they maybe think that I wasn't serious or something.

It's tough because people have their doubts and all that but when you can trust somebody... that's the real armor!

Great one.
