Prayers for the Children

Liner Notes:

I decided to treat this song as spoken poetry. It seemed to emphasize Liz's words better that way. Stumbled upon some Absynth tones to make noises with.

Lyrics:

Prayers for the Children

pray with me...

prayers for the children
especially ones born with
black or brown skin
when others do not care
what struggles they are in
and all children
living in poverty
and those beaten outside
or within

pray with me...

prayers for the children
especially ones who cry
alone at night
when others do not come
to hold them tight
and the children
who are always hungry
and those sent to war and
who must fight

pray with me...

prayers for the children
especially ones who are
homeless in streets
where they must beg and steal
for something to eat
and the children
imprisoned or accused
and ones put down by
those who teach

pray with me...

prayers for the children
especially ones caged in
detention camps
far from parents in crowded
filth where they are at
and all children
who are hurting and ill
and political pawns in
powerful hands

pray with me...
prayers for the children....
oh Lord....prayers for the children....
prayers for the children now

The spoken word with the repeated chord figure worked really well, I think. Nice work, both of you.

Wow! I felt like I walked into the middle of a worship service. The bells are a really nice touch. I “heard” these lyrics with a gospel choir....which is kind of hard to create during the summer of COVID....

Lovely chiming sounds fit the poem perfectly ... like little glints of remembered childhood. Next part is heavenly (as in it literally sounds like heaven - all fluffy and cloudy). Nice!

That is powerful. The glockenspiel at the start sets the tone perfectly.
