Wear a Mask

Liner Notes:

Lots of folks seemed to be writing a mask song. So this is my mask song. It's a minute and a half and there are a lot of words so I didn't get fancy with the recording. It's 93% humidity and my office is on the 3rd floor. Please send ice cream and a spray bottle.

Lyrics:

The thought of CBGBs used to give me heebie jeebies
Now I'm always feeling queasy everywhere
Need some quality protection, like some killer disinfection
But let's please avoid injections. Yes beware
When idiocy strikes, wrapped up in the stars and stripes
They're all caught up in the hype without a clue
And we try to show them sense, but they're acting kind of dense
And the task is so immense. What will we do?

Wear a mask. Wear a mask. Wear a mask and stay away from the crazies
Wear a mask. Wear a mask. Wear a mask and stay away from the crazies
Wear a mask. Wear a mask. Wear a mask and stay away from the crazies
Wear a mask. Wear a mask. Wear a mask and just stay home.

Now we're living in pandemic. It's a global epidemic
We should keep an academic level head
Everything is heater skelter as we flounder and we welter
We must play the hand we're dealt or we'll be dead
Stay at home and read a book or become a better cook
So many things we overlooked in the past
Binge your favorite show. Learn to play the piccolo
We should all be lying low 'til this has passed.

Wear a mask. Wear a mask. Wear a mask and stay away from the crazies
Wear a mask. Wear a mask. Wear a mask and stay away from the crazies
Wear a mask. Wear a mask. Wear a mask and stay away from the crazies
Wear a mask. Wear a mask. Wear a mask and just stay home.

Great, lighthearted song, solid advice. My daughter loves it: "Funny!"

I agree

Hey Katie! I love your mask song! You explained everything so well and, unlike me, you didn't even resort to cursing! I love how fast your delivery of these complex lines was! You really pulled that off nicely! And you performed/recorded in 93% humidity on the 3rd floor??? Damn, you have earned ice cream and a spray bottle. Nice work on the mask challenge!

Good song, and great for the singer. Well done. I wonder if it’s worth the CBGB etc in the opening line could become the notes for a piano/guitar break? It might sound quite mad, which would be even better, but it would “fit“ the rest of the tone about everything else being potentially so weird and paranoid.
This would also be a heap of fun to perform on stage, perhaps with a brief pre-song explanation as to how we needed to leave these notes in the song “in case anything happened to us... you’ll need to work these chords out” or some-such.
Anyway great song.

Wow, so many words here!
Nicely done on getting them all out!
What a great sing-along tune for sure.
I'm loving the uke.
Excellent!
