At 2:53 am
© 2020 Cindy Prince
After she'd done her nightly haunting
She'd float into the big clock
She'd stop it at the time of her death
She gave every student a shock
The college decided to move it
Thought changing it's location would work
But she took residence in the new hall
And to this day she still lurks
Chorus
Tick, tock
Tick, tock
The clock always stopped
At 2:53 am
The time of her death
Helen stopped the clock
She died in the Spanish flu pandemic
At Coe College in her first year
Her parents later donated a grandfather clock
To remember their sweet dear
Her name was Helen Esther Roberts
She never reached eighteen
Students reported a ghost with mischief
Playing piano and causing scenes
Repeat chorus

Very interesting story, the piano is lovely and the whole delivery included the ticking is very enjoyable.
Cool bit of storytelling with a beautiful vocal on top of lovely piano playing.
Perfect! Love the piano and clock sounds and it's eerie! Thank you!
More collaborations, you two! I've always loved Marthie's voice...and Cindy already knows how much I appreciate her lyrics. This is a little different for Marthie, with a really lovely melody and nice phrasing. Great work!!
Ready for Halloween we are. Incredible Lyrics and story
Beautifully done vocals with a perfect mystical melody
Titles with numbers are always intriguing, aren't they? Right then and there you want to know the story behind that particular number. The words connect with the sounds of the story. And the haunting piano! Well done!
I read the lyrics first - what incredible storytelling!
And I am absolutely mesmerized by the chillingly beautiful piano/vocal treatment. Excellent, inspired collab!
Brilliant, memorable chorus - both lyrically and musically.
