Lyrics:

V1
she asked,
“Mom, were there
lesbian dinosaurs
one hundred million
years ago?”

I said,
“there aren’t any
lesbian dinosaurs
alive who would
really know
so I’m not quite sure ....
but, yes,
I do think so,
I suppose”

PC1
and then I kissed her head
and sang her this song
pulling her blanket up
to keep her warm

C
may the lavender lesbian dinosaurs
and their friends with sparkly
bright purple horns
prance through your dreams
in the moonlight all night
to keep you safe from harm

V3
she asked,
“Mom do you think
lesbian dinosaurs
liked rainbows and
unicorns?”

I said,
“there aren’t any
lesbian dinosaurs
so I’m a
little torn
probably rainbows ...
and those
unicorns with
bright purple horns”

PC2
and then I gave one last hug
and sang her this song
tiptoeing quietly out her
bedroom door

C
may the lavender lesbian dinosaurs
and their friends with sparkly
bright purple horns
prance through your dreams
in the moonlight all night
to keep you safe from harm

V3
then she asked,
“Mom, do you think
lesbian dinosaurs
always had
such questions
fill their heads?”

I said
“I don’t know if
lesbian dinosaurs’
had questions
before bed
but I know it’s
bedtime now
for their
purple horned
unicorn friends”

You got me pondering ! Why the question came into being ? Like a typical adult I'm not sure we've answered the question or the heart of the child asking ! Maybe tomorrow the question will disappear or maybe surface in another animal. Nice write

I LOVE this! I bet it resonates even more with folks who are parents - it's the sort of question that kids, if they're in a setting where they're truly free to ask whatever questions they want, probably have asked. I think your answers here are pretty reasonable and make for a great song.

I could not do the vocals justice, and it wouldn't seem appropriate for me to attempt the subject material in any case, but I would love to take a non-exclusive stab at some poppy music for this.

This is adorable! I love it, it's such a random subject. It is very real feeling. I have been around my fair share of question asking kids.

@spirylence - if you arrange music, I would lend my voice to add the vocals.

Very cute - i can't quite hear the melody in my head, but wouldn't it be funny if the Wiggles gave this a crack to their masses of fans Smile

The ending was brilliant by the way, i was totally that kid with a million questions in her head LOL

Have you seen the LGBTQ dinosaur stickers available on ETSY? I saw your title and HAD to read your lyrics!

Feels like a beautiful snapshot of a moment.

Adorable! So quirky and fun. I am put in mind of "Dinosaurs in Love." Perfectly captures the inquisitiveness and imagination of childhood.
