Trouble In Mind - Copyright Wolf Kier 2020

Some say I got trouble in mind
Some say I got trouble in soul
I know I got none of the kind
Me I got no trouble at all

Somewhere in the world there's a hobo on a freight train
He's got a picture in his pocket of the way it needs to be
He's seen the end of the road at the edge of the world
And he stood there alone but now he's coming home

You say I got trouble in mind
You say I got trouble in soul
I tell you, me I must be one of a kind
Cos me I got no trouble at all

Cos somewhere in the world there's a girl on a subway
She got a picture on her phone of the way it needs to be
She been round and around around in that subway
But now she got a message that her hobo's coming home

Solo

Somewhere in the world there's a hobo on a freight train
He's got a picture in his pocket of the way it needs to be
He's seen the end of the road at the edge of world
And he stood there alone but now he's coming home
Somewhere in the world there's girl on a subway
She got a picture on her phone of the way it needs to be
She's been around and around, around on that subway
But now she got a message that her hobo's coming home

Some say I got trouble in mind
Some say I got trouble in mind
Some say I got trouble in mind
Me I got no trouble at all!

nice! first, impressive production and i love that up-front vocal. Vocal has alot of personality too, and really draws you in. fun little guitar solo, too.
lyrically, not quite sure how the verses 'fit' the chorus about 'no trouble at all'.. but its engrossing stuff, nicely done and i like that last-verse build up.

Yup like the vibe and production on this one. It has a real nostalgic feel to it. Good theme. Nice images.

So Happy to hear your creative talent back in the saddle... Always pushing the edge... you are. I'm hearing a new feeling in your music this year. Freight train is a nice trick too

THis is great! So atmospheric.. my transportation has arrived! Your lyrical storytelling moves me. Nice work!

This is nice! I especially enjoyed how the little rhythm riff just seems to fit so snugly in the middle, great mix! Lot of quirky fun in the vocal esp in the chorusish bits, well done all around!

What a treat! Your talents are beyond good and this is as good as it gets! Smooth, classic magic!

I like this melody a lot. The vocal performance has an attitude/flair to it that's almost arrogant but it works so well for you very well. I like the production quite a bit. The music drives along quite nicely, the rhythm is enticing. Damn good start to 50/90.

I like the hook and the slight ambiguity to the words. Leaves things open to interpretation without leaving me wondering what it's all about. The instrumentals and vocal work are all really strong in this. It's stuck in my head now.

nice reversal of the blues syndrome refereced in the classic title . i love the way you sing these character vignettes, and the arrangement fits you like a glove.

You are indeed on a roll. This is a pop sensation right out of the gate, but a twisted sort of pop that is never cloying. I love the way you sing the opening line, and the melody--and the way you sing that next line is even better

First, love the cover. Second, your vocals are better than ever - really cool and melodic. Instrumentation perfect - I like the little bell-like keyboard sounds and the anchoring bass. Additional percussion a nice touch! Really unusual guitar solo - love it! And the words flow beautifully, particularly "picture in his pocket." Welcome back!

Fantastic hook and story. Love the vocal lift at the end of the first lines of the chorus. You sound great! Love the driving upbeat movement and the production! Wonderful instrumental interlude that echoes a train. Love the contrast between the guy on a freight train and woman on a subway.

Cool busy drum, and interesting synth patches at the end. The melody gets stuck easily in your head! Maybe you can (with drum/vocals) contrast the verses with the choruses a bit more to make it even better.

I'm envisioning the hobo and/or the girl singing the chorus. Catchy tune and great production.

Nice on, reminds me of Bowie in style, especially your voice and use of piano.

The music is so catchy, the vocals so idiosyncratic; this is a fun, eccentric treat that was a joyful jolt to the system. I don't know what the lyrics mean exactly, but they sound like they have meaning to you, and that absolutely carried the day. And I absolutely see where @gregjwere is coming from with the Bowie comparison.

Nice bass sound!

Since you asked for production feedback, so here's something I noticed. Most of the instruments seem to occupy the same frequency range, which makes them overlap and hard to focus on any one instrument. It'd be possibly nicer sounding if you EQ'd the sounds so that each has their designated place in the frequency spectrum. Like the electric piano sound clashes with the vocals, so maybe make other stand out in 2k and the other in 4k. Smile

The lyrics are excellent. I especially enjoyed the whole girl on the subway bit. Biggrin

hi wolfy! oooh great groove. great vocals, so much attitude..!! love that barely-there xylophone playing along to the vocal melody, great touch. off to a good start!!!

This is slick, it reminds me of Beck, his earlier work. I really enjoyed the listen.

Got a first listen on my phone, and me likee! A fresh new Wolf song! I will get back with my phones in and give a better second pass comment. Onward and upward mighty one!

It's been a while for me I've listened to any music at all before 50/90. I'm glad to enjoy listening to music again and this certainly is no exception. I like how the guitars roar and the other instruments (like the xylophone) are untroubled, which make listening to the lyrics a special kind of experience, as with a lot of your songs. Yes, another fine Wolfchoon! Mix-wise, I can relate to what IA is saying, I think the mix should breath more for an even better listening experience. Enjoyed much Smile

This is catchy and I want to listen to it over and over. Great hook

good to hear a new wolfchoon. first thing that struck me is that it seemed an airier sound than i expected. lots of light space. and i liked the train like shuffling chuffle. nice story and beautifully painted scene. nice one!

Dearest Wolf, I absolutely love this! My favorite lines "He's seen the end of the road at the edge of the world and he stood there alone but now he's coming home." Brilliant! Instantly appealing right from the start. You always have the best hooks from beginning to end that keep us on the edge of our seats and I never want your tunes to end!!!! Another superb write <3

I completely agree with other re the comparison with David Bowie. I think it goes deeper than just your vocal performance, I think the whole production is rather like something he would come up with (that's a compliment Wink )
I would like to know what the connection between the verses and the chorus is, and as a listener this would be slightly offputting (you asked for feedback Smile ). If there was a subtle way the verse and chorus could be sewn together to make it clearer to the listener, that would make a good song great (in my humble opinion - I'm only one person).
Love it Smile

This may be the strongest song I have heard of yours. The arrangement and production is lush and driving. Your vocals are commanding and compelling. So wonderful.
