Liz: I thought I was done - but a quick write was still inside..

Roel: I wasn't done at all, and then this great lyric popped up and begged for a song! Smile

LIZ says - thank you Roel! That is so absolutely gorgeous. Marthie also did a version which I post here in case anyone is interested. Also very beautiful.

Lyrics:

Watercolors of You

V1
wildflowers
on the hills
lavender, blue
dusky rose

delicate
and fleeting
while they bud
bloom and grow

watercolor
pictures help
me recall so
I can hold....

all the beauty
of flowers
gentle, vibrant
fragile bold

C
but watercolors
will run and bleed
like thoughts of you
and those memories
they make a mess
make a mess of me...
especially as
tears again flow
washing away
beautiful hues
of love I have known...
watercolors of you

V2
ocean beaches
at the shore
tall sea grasses
golden sands

ever changing
never still
with rugged
rocky land

watercolor
paintings help
me capture what
I now can

all the beauty
of seascapes
wonderful wild
vast and grand

C
but watercolors
will run and bleed
like thoughts of you
and those memories
they make a mess
make a mess of me...
especially as
tears again flow
washing away
beautiful hues
of love I have known...
watercolors I’ve know

I so love that title! And all the colors And the running and bleeding in the chorus. Perfect!

Hey Liz, I've got a beautiful 4 chord song for this lovely painting. I'll upload it tonight, ok? Smile

Glad you shared this one in the songs that need more attention thread!
Poetic - you paint a picture with just a few well-chosen words. And the nostalgic 50s-style chord progression, the guitar/vocal personal touch are just right. Excellent collab!

Yes, well done, great sound for a great lyric brought to life audibly.

The Marthie track on youtube:
Same thing as above..., and it -- goes to show a lyric is not a lyric of just one lyric possibility, -- indeed!
