Poor Benjo (Tony) had to wait until the last minute to get this song, hope he's not disappointed after the long wait. Always happy to share a song with my long time collaborator, his words always take me someplace magical.

Lyrics:

It's Lonely On Your Own

why can't you take all of me
the pieces that you want
are stars that died out

so easily you lie to me
exhausted on the ground
there's no more down

chorus
take my heart
and take my soul
take my mind
be in control
oh oh oh
it's lonely on your own
when you don't know where to go
it's lonely on your own

tears are all I have of yours
like angels wings in summer dew
white light burns through

why don't you want everything
the parts that you don't see
why don't you want everything of me

chorus
take my heart
and take my soul
take my mind
be in control
oh oh oh
it's lonely on your own
when you don't know where to go
it's lonely on your own

so song birds sing your songs
paint the sky in clouds
and let the rain come now

sweet whispers from the willows
that echoes in my thoughts
oh oh oh oh, love I have caught

chorus
take my heart
and take my soul
take my mind
be in control
oh oh oh
it's lonely on your own
when you don't know where to go
it's lonely on your own

Outro
oh oh oh
it's lonely on your own
oh oh oh
it's lonely on your own
oh oh oh
it's lonely on your own

Wonderful collaboration. The poetic lyrics are beatiful and sad - the music with the chord progression and the melody deliver the sentiment so well. Love the vocals. The ritardo and acapella vocal noodle at the end give me chills!

I like the contrast between fast lines and long legato lines. I didn't expect the quick lines from the opening tempo and vibe. Pretty cool. I love those slow scoop ups to the note in the chorus. Very bluesy. Love that. Lyrically reminds me of Piece of My Heart. That's a really good thing. But you also make it powerful with the descriptive images.
