Lyrics:

Empty Harvest

V1
I have plowed many fields
planted hopeful seeds of love
as the sun shone down
from bright blue skies above

but when downpours came
the fields became mud
their was nothing I could save
tears flowed like a flood

PC1
I stand alone in a field
navigating storms

C
I will reap what I sow
but I still don’t know
why weather always changes so fast

I will plant seeds again
no matter what the end
remembering good harvests of the past

and hoping for a harvest
a harvest that bears love....
love that will last

V2
I have weeded many rows
nourished soil with love
as warm rains came down
so gently from above

but then dark storms arrived
washed all the love away
now my fields stand empty
nothing grows today

PC
I stand alone in the field
with empty open arms

C
I will reap what I sow
but I still don’t know
why weather always changes so fast

I will plant seeds again
no matter what the end
remembering good harvests of the past

and hoping for a harvest
a harvest that bears love....
love that will last

Wow, the longing is so powerful in this! This was a great idea for a skirmish and I dearly love your take!

This is deep and I like the contemplation about life, oneself, and the ultimate hope and strength of spirit! Done in an hour...amazing! The metaphors are enriching!! Great job!

Excellent! And what a wonderful prompt you came up with - so much to be done with it.
Your words here are achingly lovely, vivid and ultimately hopeful. I hear the swelling of orchestral strings as I read this.

Really well constructed. Doesn't seem like a skirmish. It's a great theme. Well developed and just really good.
