Oceans rise

Oceans rise

Liner Notes:

I wrote this in mid-September, around the time of the climate change protests that were happening-- just didn't get a chance to post it until now.

Dedicated to Greta and her generation

The oceans rise, our chances sink
But you don’t care, pour yourself another drink
Why listen to a scientist’s suggestion
If it cuts into profit projections

You deniers might be the death of us all
Humanity rose, humanity can fall

It might be too late, I don’t know
I’m not settling for just a ‘no’
Your reckoning day will come at last
Even if its five minutes before we all pass

So long civilization, its’ been good
But we ain’t doing the things that we should
There’s steps we can take, we might as well take
Like a car before a crash, might as well try the brake

I know this tune may fall on deaf ears
Its been doing so for years and years
But there’s a movement in every nation
Coming from the next generation

Very timely -I wrote one last night about this. We need as many songs and information as we can get to see if we can turn this around. Great message song!

Good setting for this message -- it still sounds folky, but the chord sequence is unexpected, up-to-date and very pretty. You deftly mix anger, wistfulness and hope.
