Liner Notes:

a work in progress

there's been several suicides

instead of writing from a point of pain and anger, I tried a different angle of acceptance, in acknowledging someone's desire or belief to not be around anymore

cos sometimes, when someone wants to go, there's nothing you can do - even if you did everything right,

apologies for any triggers, flashbacks, etc

Lyrics:

Determined to go (Kate Cook inspired)

ALL RIGHTS RESERVED 2019

I look at the photo of you on the wall
So happy and free
You had a cheeky look in your eye
For all the pretty girls to see

You were at home, on the stage
Singing at the top of your lungs
Strumming a guitar, under the bright lights
Clearly having so much fun

CHORUS
But I don't think
Anyone could've saved you
And I don't think
Anyone could've stopped you
You were determined to go
So determined to go

INSTRUMENTAL

Somewhere down the line, the lights went black
Something changed inside
Don't know why things ended up like that
Cos you'd pull away and you'd hide

It was a Monday night when I heard the news
I stood in disbelief
Hoping so hard that it wasn't true
But my mind said history repeats

CHORUS
But I don't think
Anyone could've saved you
And I don't think
Anyone could've stopped you
You were determined to go
So determined to go

Now we stand at your headstone
Wondering what we could've done
I float between the anger and sorrow
Why didn't you tell anyone

CHORUS
But I don't think
Anyone could've saved you
And I don't think
Anyone could've stopped you
You were determined to go
So determined to go

Comments

Yes, this kind of song, affect, effect and etc., well, like all, is up to the listener.

I remember one conversation with someone who commented something said that seemed to have the effect that is debatable. This person said, someone they knew well and respected said, the obvious, -- "well, what if the moment you're on the other side, you see "that" was NOT the solution; then what you gonna do? It's not like you can change you mind, as far as we know in this realm. It's not like you'll know for sure that you'll have "this" much control to make that shift again."

That's a sobering thought for some, and just smacks of fact, only, and considering, "well, what's the alternative", now?

Yes, it's a tough subject with so many scenarios too general to comment, yet some very specific and some just wrapped in a societal depression gone global some may argue.

So, I hope someone musicates it to your satisfaction! It's certainly engage-able for whomever may take it on.

So much truth in this. It's so sad, but I think if someone has decided, there's not much anyone can do. I am sorry for your loss, but I am glad you wrote about it
