Liner Notes:

Marion shared a lyric he wrote with his friend Julie on FB and said I could put music to it.

Lyric: Marion Doerflinger, Julie Barton
Music and performance: T.C. Elliott

Lyrics:

You're collecting pennies from heaven.
She's writing bad checks for the Devil.
So don't feel badly about getting suckered,
Cause you and God are on the level.

You and God are on the level,
So you're on the level with the whole human race.
And you can smile at the guy you see,
When you look yourself in the face.

When you look yourself in the face,
Do you like who you see?
When you look yourself in the face,
Is that REALLY who you want to be?

They say it'sad to die a pauper.
I say it's sad to die a selfish man.
To have a funeral fancy and proper.
To face God with empty heart and hands.

When you look yourself in the face,
Do you like who you see?
When you look your self in the face,
Is that REALLY who you want to be?

When you look yourself in the face,
Is that REALLY who you want to be?

very nice lyric - you can fool most people sometimes but you can never fool yourself. Nice guitar and uncomplex delivery which suits this!

That is some crisp, sweet acoustic playing! And your voice is sweet, too, as usual. You really seem to be inhabiting, experiencing the words as you sing. Quietly powerful song.
