Jerry here: Larry suggest this was Great Basin so I went ahead with the project. Hope it you like it and thanks everybody for listening. Yeah, the first verse chorus sounds squeezed a little bit but I needed to do it this way and didn't expect a rushed chorus. Thanks Larry

Lyrics:

Far Yonder Thunder (Larry W Jones 09/11/2019) (song #7600)

There’s a blue moon up in the sky tonight
But it can’t be seen through all the dark clouds
I hear far yonder thunder rollin’ round
There must be lightnin’ almost out of sight
Like far yonder thunder I’ll say out loud
Girl, it’s far over yonder where I’m bound

Far yonder thunder’s rumblin’ through the sky
Like lonesome worried feelin’s on my mind
It’s been here lots of nights and many days
I might figure it out some by and by
But for now I’ll just take it as a sign
Far yonder thunder’s callin’ me away

(Instrumental)

There’s a blue moon up in the sky tonight
But it can’t be seen through all the dark clouds
I hear far yonder thunder rollin’ round
There must be lightnin’ almost out of sight
Like far yonder thunder I’ll say out loud
Girl, it’s far over yonder where I’m bound

An old freight train’s a-comin’ fore too long
Rollin’ down the tracks to where I don’t care
Sounds like far yonder thunder night or day
My last words to you won’t be in a song
Nobody wants to hear of love’s despair
Like that far yonder thunder in the air
Far yonder thunder’s in the air

Dark and epic lyrics. The whole idea of a faraway thunder is great. It immediately brings to mind a darkening sky and that feeling of dread. Jerry's music fits the lyrics. Midtempo minor key music, strong emphasis on the backbeat, and the guitar solo with a sound like The Cure are gloomy together. I like this one.

It seems like there is something imminent on the horizon. But that semi tongue twister of "far yonder thunder" sung is pleasant to hear (and sing cause I did). This a great collaboration, guys. Great storytelling paired up with music that speaks of a dark subject with a bit of lightness. I dig.

like ghost riders in the sky, a spooky song for the trail, riding across the prairie under the big sky at night. the rhythms are perfect.

Good job, guys! Nice classic country--just the way I like it. Great tone on that bass--rumbles like...thunder, I guess. Very nice arrangement.

I agree this has a classic feel and I do like the comparison to Ghostriders in the Sky too. The vocals, the lyrics, that great instrumental...I like everything about this song.

I like this lyric very much. It has cool images throughout. And the music works so very well. This has a good rhythm and overall feel to it. A very good one.
