Liner Notes:

liz.....Shawano, WI (pronounced Shaw-No) was my home town from 6th grade through high school. It is a small town on the Wolf River and Shawano Lake Northeast of Green Bay.

bill.....i started out to write a pretty waltz, then my emotions got the best of me

Liz... Bill captured the sentiment perfectly with his music and tender emotive vocals. So grateful to him for bringing this song to life.

Lyrics:

V1
I’m going back
to my old home town
wanting to see
if she is around
wondering if
she has ever found
more sweet love like
we once shared
thirty years have passed
but my heart
still cares

C
memories carry me
back to Shawano
memories take me
right back to her
memories carry me
to the river
where she caught my heart
and left me...
left me forever stirred

V1
I’m driving by
old Franklin school
remembering how
I tried play it cool
picking her up and
breaking every rule
down at the beach
under the moon
sharing tender love
that was gone
too soon

C
memories carry me
back to Shawano
memories take me
right back to her
memories carry me
to the river
where she caught my heart
and left me...
left me forever stirred

B
I ran into her
at the five and dime
she said she thought of us
time after time
we grabbed a cup of coffee
talked for a long while
it was sure good
to see her old smile

C
memories carry me
back to Shawano
memories take me
right back to her
memories carry me
to the river
where she caught my heart
and left me...
left me forever stirred

Looking at the lyrics...Interesting first verse as I recently reconnected with somebody I had a relationship 20 years ago. The chorus leaves you hanging on the left me...then follows with left me forever stirred. That works really nicely. The bridge is similar to my recent reconnect. In my case, I don't feel anything but going over our memories is always interesting as we had some pretty hard laughs together. Nice job on this Liz. I'm ready for the audio now...hold. guitar and vocals sound good...can clearly understand the lyrics...good vocals and melody...where she caught my heart...and left me...left me forever stirred. chorus again...very good melody...strong lyrics...so I ran into her at the five and dine...grabbed a coffee...talked for a long while...it sure was good to see her warm smile...harmonica...sounds good...solid guitar playing...chorus again now...very catchy. she left me forever stirred...yeah, great job Bill...very easy to listen to this and Liz you always deliver the songs. Great collab.

It's got that longing for the good ol days vibe. The guitar/vocal folky treatment works really well for it. Was not expecting harmonica, but that really completes the folk sound, doesn't it?

Yes, these lyrics are proof of craftmanship, which is no surprise knowing Lizzy wrote them. That bridge is my favorite part lyrically and vocally, cause it took me to a recent meeting I had with an ex, which brought the both of us some magic. I like to think the bridge is sort of a promise for a reunion, but no one knows for sure.

Sweet, friendly tone to the lyrics that are full of reflection and emotion that goes way back in time. I can certainly relate to looking back many years and thinking about certain people. "Left me forever stirred" is a great way to express that emotion. The vocal has the longing and the guitar brings it alive with care. Very nicely done all around!
