Liner Notes:

I had some leftover lines form my "heartache" lyric I just posted and also the Titular gave me an idea with the idea of "footsteps" and so here goes another breakup song. These ideas all overlap!! Time for a positive one...

Lyrics:

DOES ANYONE KNOW LOVE

Our love left tread marks
When we said goodbye
I don’t know what went wrong
I guess the sun got in our eyes

I thought you knew me
You thought I knew you
We had a line to our dreams
And made pacts with the moon

[ch]
Oh, does anyone know love
Can it ever be enough
I’m tired of failed romance
And pain that won’t let up
Does anyone know desire
Does it know how to survive
I’m tired of the longing
And watching dreams collide

Our love is like footsteps
That follow me everywhere
I don’t know where I can go
Where I feel like I don’t care

I thought we were different
You thought the same thing
Somewhere something got unplugged
Now my heart really stings

[ch]
Oh, does anyone know love
Can it ever be enough
I’m tired of failed romance
And pain that won’t let up
Does anyone know desire
Does it know how to survive
I’m tired of the longing
And watching dreams collide

[br]
We gave each other the freedom
To find what we both need
Maybe one day we’ll understand
How we ended up in the weeds

Repeat ch

“Watching dreams collide”
“How we needed up in the weeds”
Vivid lines and heart wrenching song.
Great writing!

The chorus is where my heart strings were tugged at the most. I was reminded of a tune by David Ruffin (Walk Away From Love) that somewhat mirrors the kind of heartbreak your song embodies. Excellent writing for sure!

I like the idea of recycling lyrics and well done turning leftovers into another tune!
