prompt Green

I had this groove layin' around for a couple of weeks. It's 7/8 in sets of two counted 3+4, 4+3. Just seemed to work with this lyric.

A bit fictional since at least half of my trees are evergreens, mostly cedar, so there will always be many acres of green!

Guitars: Guild D-25
Note: Skirmish: 1 hour-ish to write and record

No More Green

I see green
But it's turnin' to brown
Prety soon
Leaves start fallin' down
Little time in between
'fore winter comes around
And we all know what that means
No green

I see green
No clouds in the sky
No rain
Grass is lookin' dry
Lazy days we've seen
Quickly goin' by
Get out the heavy jeans
Summertime bye bye
No green

The lyrics are perfect! And nice uneven meter makes for a cool groove! I'm wearing my "heavy jeans" today!

Love the music! Almost buffett style or even richman! Great track and a really good skirmish on the season change!

Looking at the lyrics...great opening verse and very well said. Yeah, the second section expands the message even further. Honestly, we've been over 100 degrees every day since July 1st but we don't really have a lot of trees. There are some but the people put rocks on their lawns because it just dies and creates yardwork. Ok, I'm ready for the audio now. Should be interesting with the time signatures mentioned. Hold. Shaker...wood something...guitar now...nice groove...beat now....synth bass now...vocals now...can clearly understand the lyrics...sounds good...we all know what that groove on the bass...vocals very strong...and lyrics...summertime bye bye no green....fade out. Message delivered...totally awesome job on this. I like it a lot.

Love the 7/8 with the 3+4/4+4 rhythmic feel. Cool build of layers as percussion guitar and vocals are added. Gives I a wonderful structure and the lyrics are very relatable and create vivid images. Great take on the prompt!

Love that groove !! It's very summery and reminds of the Caribbean <3 Great spoken lyrics too. Hate heavy jeans !

Interesting rhythms are sooooooooooo much fun. I wish I was better at them. Has a tropical vibe too, which I love.
And it's so happy sounding, but it's about something on the bummer side of life. I love doing that. Happy music, sad lyrics. Sad love songs on the uke are my fave to write!
Nicely done, sir!

Hey JWHanberry, you did an excellent job on your skirmish. Your vocals, music and lyrics sound great.

I did this skirmish too - sorry I missed yours. And what a cool groove! I dig the blend of instruments, too.
You're describing the Ohio falls I used to experience. Sometimes I miss them.
