Lyrics:

NEXT IN A LONG LINE OF HEARTACHES (Cooper/Jones)
(c) All Rights Reserved 2019

We had a moment
You caught my eye
Traded looks across the road
I found it tricky to walk by

I could have spoken
Made some excuse
Thought I’d like to get to know you
But really what’s the use?

You’d only be the next in a long line of heartaches
A new name to add to a list of failed loves
I’ve learned that nothing ever lasts
I’ll tip my hat as I stroll past
So you’re not the next in my long line of heartaches

When you noticed me
I felt a spark
And we shared a brief smile
The day I saw you in the park

And then you waved
I thought beware
That’s when I had to walk away
Before we got locked in a stare

You’d only be the next in a long line of heartaches
A new name to add to a list of failed loves
I’ve learned that nothing ever lasts
I’ll tip my hat as I stroll past
So you’re not the next in my long line of heartaches

Oh good things always come to an end
Better not to start than ever to begin
A pessimist a cynic - you can call me any name
But it’s worth it not to hurt so much again

You’d only be the next in a long line of heartaches
A new name to add to a list of failed loves
I’ve learned that nothing ever lasts
I’ll tip my hat as I stroll past
So you’re not the next in my long line of heartaches

You’d only be the next in a long line of heartaches
A new name to add to a list of failed loves
I’ve learned that nothing ever lasts
I’ll tip my hat as I stroll past
So you’re not the next in my long line of heartaches
So you’re not the next in my long line of heartaches

Yes, country soul is a good description of this track. Quality tune by Gwyn to fit the splendid lyric by Georgie. What a great songwriting team!

I am amazed at all the styles you guys pull off, another great danceable song yet so different from the other ones.

nice collab as always. i like the hook and the production of the country soul thing is very engaging... (interesting panning too) i agree catchy and easy dancing, love the retro vibe.
