Liner Notes:

Doug's lyrics always take me to a new place and I am always happy to work with his art. As always, hope he likes where this took me, but we can chalk up another collab together, thanks Doug for the lyric!

Doug: When I send a lyric to Tammy, I always know she'll do something special with it. I heard a fairly simple melody in my head but she's gone in far better directions with this than I could ever imagine. As someone who only writes words, I can say that it's a gift when Tammy turns them into a song. I love this.

Lyrics:

Haven
by Doug Haberman and Tammy Jann
© 2019

I know I’m not always easy
I know I’m not always fun
At times I irritate you
But nobody's greater
At making me stand fast
When I want to run

Chorus
You raise me high
When I’m feeling low
You give me yes
When the world says no
You are the place
Where I always go
When I need a haven
When I need a haven

No one has my back like you do
No one makes me laugh so loud
You like to explain
The benefits of rain
When I shake my two fists
At menacing clouds

Chorus
You raise me high
When I’m feeling low
You give me yes
When the world says no
You are the place
Where I always go
When I need a haven
When I need a haven

Bridge
When I'm shattered in pieces, you pick me up
When I'm empty hearted, you bring me love
When I'm in pain, you pull me through
my haven is you

Chorus
You raise me high
When I’m feeling low
You give me yes
When the world says no
You are the place
Where I always go
When I need a haven
When I need a haven

Outro
You'll pull me through
My haven is you

It's a great comfort to know that someone has your back; especially when there are times when you pressed, stressed or depressed. But I also sense in this song that it's not just about moments in the valley, but peaks as well. A good friend is indeed a good haven. Very well structured song and wonderfully realized and rendered by you, Tammy. This is all kinds of special. Nice work to the both of you.

Very special and beautiful lyrics and music. Loving, caring, gentle yet powerful with a touch of folk element and distinctive flavour. I think I often write commenting on your hauntingly beautiful vocals and playing but it is the case I can't ignore. Gorgeous song and collaboration. Very expressive and unique.

like Nadia above i think you can sing the phone book so its hard to give more useful comments on the song. It is a good song however, very good chorus and some good use of the pause, Crisp lyrics are always cool!

Beyond incredible! This takes me places I have been wanting to go. Doug, such great lyrics, and girl-you've done it again! Lovely collab!

i feel both the pain and comfort in your vocal. the occasional joni mitchell style melodic lift opens the song up into another world, alluding to utopian possibilities outside of the immediate mifortunes. the song has such a depth of energy and is a pleasure to listen to.

Yeah! Love the positive, you always have my back lyrics. Very encouraging. Performance is cool with the acoustic rock vibe. Cool tune y'all!

Doug's lyrics have really nice structure and it feels really thought out and finished. I like the contrast and opposites that pop up through the song. Lyrics are also exceptionally singable. Tammy's voice is so strong and expressive. It lends a real and heartfelt emotional foundation to every line. Haunting melody on top of that and you two got a keeper in your hands.
