Klaus: Wonderful lyrics by Deanna caught my eye a while back and now the demo is ready. Thanks for the lyrics and your patience, Deanne. Smile

My work at the library starts in September. This means I'm trying to do as many demos in August as I can. Hopefully, I'll post something new every other day and at the same time make some other demos which I'll post in September. This all might or might not mean that some of the demos are more basic than before. Man's gotta do what man's gotta do. The next two weeks will be busy time for me. Wish me luck! Smile

Lyrics:

Moon Over Us
(c) 2019
Deanna Sweidel

Living separate lives
We just couldn’t last
Distance divides us
Can’t erase the past

Sunrise every day
The brightest memory
You made your choices
About you and me

Ooh...
But late at night
We’re staring at
The same moon over us
Shining pale light
Through the dark sky
On all the hurt that was
I ...
I cry at night
While staring at
That same moon over us

You and I as one
Wasn’t in the stars
Really thought we tried
Love was finally ours

Sunset every day
A fading gesture
Easily setting
Off into the west

Oooh...
But late at night
We’re staring at
The same moon over us
Shining pale light
Through the dark sky
On all the hurt that was
I ...
I cry at night
While staring at
That same moon over us

Do you see at night
The same moon over us
Do you think of me
And all the pain you caused

Oh...
late at night
We’re staring at
The same moon over us
Shining pale light
Through the dark sky
On all the hurt that was
I...
I cry at night
While staring at
That same moon over us

Shining pale light
Through the dark sky
I’m staring at
That same moon over us

Very nice. It was a good lyric. The moon prompts got a lot of good stuff. The simple driving melody holds the songs sadness as does the less changeable vocal. Good one.

As soon as the music started, I was all in the feels. It was smooth, sultry, and groovy baby! I was really feeling it, and feeling it hard!

Here comes the vocals....and the delivery + the lyrics really brought it home. It was like a soulful jam that you'd be sitting on a mountain top and listening too as you reflected on your life. There's the sunset in the distance and all your thoughts have your soul centered on peace and tranquility. That's a really cool visual for a really cool song.

You both knocked this one out of the park! So sultry, so amazing! My hats off to you for killing this one you two!

truly orchestral chorus. the verses might be the most downbeat musically i have heard from you. the near dissonance captures the essence of hopelesness. there is one part i really like where the keyboards give it a procol harum sound.

You were really able to bring the dreamy quality of the lyrics out both musically and in your interpretation, this sweet fable of longing and hope really hits the heart with a majesty only paralleled by the very moon it references.

Yes! Truly gorgeous perfect delivery of a brilliant lyric. Such a longing and vulnerability that touches my heart deeply. That shared moon can be such a powerful reminder of someone and you capture that so well. The musical approach adds the perfect depth and emotion. Wonderful collaboration!

Hi Klaus, good luck friend.

Looking at the lyrics...oh wow, the first two sections can be summed up with you made your choices about you and me. Next, we have ooh. I always like that and it always stands out in my mind. Usually, the singers bring that part out too...we'll see. Unfortunately, it is sad to hear I cry at night but that's the nature of country and blues music. Also, nice use of looking at the same moon...how true and is key to the logic of these lyrics. You and I wasn't in the stars...another key phrase and also a great use of space bringing in the stars and the moon. I really like that Deanna. Chorus again and then a shocking bridge I think...Do you think of me and all the pain you caused...very nice. I went through one of these myself and it was a disaster (details skipped). I'm staring at the same moon over us. Yes, that's pretty good Deanna. I'm ready for the audio now...hold. Sounds kine of pop...not sure yet...keys...solid bassline...nice jazzy drums...vocals now...sounds good...sounds sad...sunrise every day...you made your choices about you and me...oooh...but late at night we're staring at the same moon over us...sounds great...good melody...good vocals...staring at the same moon over us...can clearly understand the lyrics...strong melody...new keys on the right side now...background oohs...nice...chorus...nice drums...staring at the same moon over us...drums a little snappier now...oooh...we're staring at the same moon over us...I cry at night while staring at the same moon over us...changeup tempo slows down and out. Great job on this Klaus. Amazing what you can do with music. I thought it would probably have to be country or blues but you pulled it off with a kind of pop music, to my surprise. The track is over and I can still hear the melody and lyrics in my head. Very good performance Klaus and very nice lyrics Deanna. It's a great song and maybe play on the radio someday...I hope so I can say I was one of the first ones to hear it.

Well arranged, wonderful treatment and soulful singing of this externally and internally reflective lyric. Super collab!
