Liner Notes:

this is the first song for the next album, titled TheSea is Coming Out of the Sea. Leaving behind the minor sevenths and love songs now for some tlaes of personal apocalypse.and other natural disasters

Lyrics:

There is a new religion
Set up in the old drugstore
They offer a free mountain bar
With every coca cola they pour

Their God
Is made of yellow play dough
With some orange and purple
Slime mixed in

The congregation
Is on their knees
Praying to
Renew their sins

I took a job handing out flowers
Trying to get people inside
But ther was goop on the flower
That got on my clothes
And I had to find a place to hide

There is a new religion
Set up in the old drugstore
They offer a free mountain bar
With every coca cola they pour

Powerful spoken-word intro and a deeply thoughtful lyric too. Classic folk music feel to the song proper. I noticed that the lyrics as sung don't exactly match those written here -- I think the sung lyrics work just a little better than the written ones.

I really loved the intro, gives me chills. And the song itself is very sad and filled with hopelessness, the writing portrays that very well and the emotions in your voice and the melody really drive the lyrics there. Very good.

Very good set up. Deep lyrics but a catchy little number which as you often do just push the edges as it seems to get predictable.

Great way to tell a story - walk into a song.

Last verse Wink Michael came down slapped me silly down the street, into next week
Said don’t you know better, better than that
Play dough got you fooled, so you “poor”...
Smile hahhh

Came to mind, came to mind (don’t rhyme, but the sentiment) — do it blue ridge hillbilly w sweet ice tea! And a “whattaburger” Smile

The intro is very good. This whole song sets in the heart the moment you start to sing. One of your óst soulfull performances. Great song
