Liner Notes:

I'm so behind. Hope I can catch up and sorry the songs will be catch-up songs.

Lyrics:

I haven’t been out of my house in 6 days, Maribel
I hope that you’re out there for both of us, giving em hell
We had a couple good years didn’t we
When I was as good as I’ll ever be
Before I blew everything by coming apart at the seams

Well, I’ve been round the channels two or three times, it’s all the same
They’re selling dreams I guess someone better than I am could claim
I’m that old beater they want you to trade
I’m the huge debt they wanna help you get paid
I’m lost as ever just sitting here in the La-Z-Boy

Maribel—you saw something in me once
Something that made you feel like something was worth a damn
Maribel—now I’m nothing but crumbs
Do you think you could still see the ghost of that other man?
Maribel, Maribel

The fan makes a sound that I’ve come to accept as company
Sounds sad I know, but I’m grateful these days when it’s only me
If you ever wanna stop in and say hello
Well, you know at least I’ll be here sun or snow
Wondering what I ever did to make a friend out of you

Maribel—you saw something in me once
Something that made you feel like something was worth a damn
Maribel—now I’m nothing but crumbs
Do you think you could still see the ghost of that other man?
Maribel, Maribel
Maribel

This works really well and has many intriguing glimpses into this lonely soul. I like how the verse ramble represents the narrators scrambled state of mind. Reminds me of someone I once knew.

love your laid back way of singing
and playing

Go on writing catch up songs when they are as good as this. Enjoyed the lonely souls lament
