Liner Notes:

Home after a mountaintop experience, literally.

And home to my ukuleles and studio.

David Thomson Resort in Cline River Alberta is on a mountain plateau. A short walk through the trees from the campground is an incredible view of the Rockies and Lake Abraham below. My wife and I spent a couple hours taking it all in.

Lyrics:

Mountaintop
Sean McGaughey (c) August 10-14, 2019
Written at the David Thompson Resort while gazing at the mountain view.

C F
Woke up inside a cloud this morning
C G
To the whispering of the leaves in the tall pine trees.
C F
Feeling the rumble of the falls into the canyon
C G C Savoring each breath of the cool mountain breeze.

Chorus
F G7 C
There is nothing like standing alone in the Rockies
F G7 C
Feeling mighty small within the expansive view.
F G7 C
There is nothing like standing alone in the Rockies.
F G7 C
Except for standing here with you.

C F
I say your eyes are as green as the water
C G
You answer mine are as blue as the skies
C F
We hold hands down two hundred stairs to the falls.
C G C
And we peer along the canyon as far as the hawk flies.

Chorus
F G7 C
There is nothing like standing alone in the Rockies
F G7 C
Feeling mighty small within the expansive view.
F G7 C
There is nothing like standing alone in the Rockies.
F G7 C
Except for standing here with you.

C F
Everything is bigger as we sit on a mountaintop.
C G
Everything that is, but the worries that we left behind.
C F
Every moment a sunbeam reveals another wonder.
C G C
Leaves us in a mountaintop state of mind.

Chorus
F G7 C
There is nothing like standing alone in the Rockies
F G7 C
Feeling mighty small within the expansive view.
F G7 C
There is nothing like standing alone in the Rockies.
F G7 C
Except for standing here with you.

Bridge.
G C
I know tomorrow we'll come down from the mountain.
G C
Back to our lives in the city below.
G C
But our hearts took a snapshot of the peaks and the valleys.
D G G7
We can have a bit of mountaintop wherever we go.

Chorus
F G7 C
There is nothing like standing alone in the Rockies
F G7 C
Feeling mighty small within the expansive view.
F G7 C
There is nothing like standing alone in the Rockies.
F G7 C
Except for standing here with you.

You are right, there is nothing like standing alone in the rockies, unless you are with a sweetheart. This is a great tune! I like the playfulness of it.

Hi, looking at the lyrics...and the chords, nice. Looking at the lyrics...first couple lines show a nice environment consistent with your liner notes...looks and sounds like fun. Yes, the rest of the verse is very nice and visual. Nice chorus...especially notable is except for standing here with you. Next section continues to describe a beautiful place...nice. Good idea for writing this song. Bridge now...tomorrow...back in the city below...kind of sad. I definitely like the replacement of camera with hearts. I have this problem as an amateur photographer for capturing things with my Nikon but actually missing out the experience if that makes sense. Very nice lyrics...well done. I'm ready for the audio now...hold Nice uke intro...vocals now...sounds good...can clearly understand the lyrics...cool mountain breeze...except for standing here with you. Chorus again now...very catchy...except for standing here with you. Good vocals...good melody. Bridge now...back to our lives in the city below...chorus....standing alone in the Rockies....standing here with you...and out. Great performance and great song. Enjoyed it very much.
