Liner Notes:

I wanted to revisit 'Flowers and Rain', though this is (almost) a completely different song. If you are a guitar player and feel the need to embellish this, make it longer, and add a guitar solo, who am I to stand in your way? I'm thinking steel guitar would be nice, too.

Lyrics:

Flowers and trees
Make it up as they go
They’re not nervous like you are
Watch ‘em grow

The birds and the bees
Never know what the know
They’re not nervous like you are
Watch ‘em go

They’re not nervous like you, or like me
They're not nervous like Picasso at the seaside
Writing postcards to the young Alice B.

They’ve had a trillion trillion days to get it right
Found a trillion trillion ways to turn their face to the light
But it’s you, girl, that I need

Flowers and trees
Never know what It Means
They’re not drinking at some sad bar
By the sea

The grass on the plains
Knows the sunlight and rain
It’s not thinking of those lies
Left unexplained

It’s not nervous like you, or like me
It's not nervous like Picasso at the seaside
Writing postcards to the young Alice B.

It’s had a trillion trillion days to get it right
Found a trillion trillion ways to turn its face to the light
But it’s you, girl, that I need

It's always been you...

clever and catchy, there are enough hooks her for several songs. i especially like the picasso line and the trillion repeats. the melodies are the kind that stick to you and pop out at unexpected moments

Really great groove and wonderfully soothing gentle vocal delivery that suits the well crafted loving lyrics so perfectly! I could listen to songs like this all day! Lovely!

Lovely comforting song, like Bill says full of hooks and good lines. I love the flip between other things and then the key girl almost in passing.

I love the turns of phrase that you use here. Picasso with the postcards is my favorite. That's brilliant! And the pining (pardon me) for the simplicity that plants experience... they just go by instinct, but we've learned to doubt our instincts.

Very nice mate. Delightful pop, reminded me of Belle and Sebastian. The catchy tune and the awkwardness of the character singing quite moved me in this teenage love song.

I totally get the post punk. the yearning lyrics and melody against the deceiving catchy more light backing is masterful

Haha, another sibling, great!
This one has the "whispered singing" that you're so masterful at, and that I enjoy so much. There's alacrity and eagerness, nicely tied to the bitter-sweet mood. Very well done.

Great lyrics ... I love the idea of the inanimate objects compared to humans. Extra points for mentions of Picasso and Alice B and a "trillion years to get it right." Catchy as heck as well!

This is so catchy! The lines just roll off the tongue so beautifully. And I like how you compare nature with people's fears. Those details jump out and it's all very engaging. There's a confidence in the singer..."watch 'em grow" as he tells his story and also a vulnerability..."But it's you, girl, that I need"....very nice combo. Really well done!
