I Love the Rain

I Love the Rain

Liner Notes:

I've written "rain" lyrics before but they all seem to go in their own direction...."I love the rain" could probably be repeated more...hard to say right now...

NOTE: Klaus added music to this. Listen here: http://fiftyninety.fawmers.org/song/39113
Thank you again, Klaus!

Lyrics:

I LOVE THE RAIN

The sun may bring smiles
With its bright, yellow light
People running miles
Everything’s alright

Oh summertime buzz
Tells us things we should do
Must not waste a moment
Gotta push time too

That may be the way, but I gotta say

[ch]
I love the rain
It brings relief
It cuts thru the heat
And I can finally breathe
And when it pours
Really hammers the ground
I know a calm is gonna come
A calm is gonna come around

Some people work hard
And they barely get by
Where is everyone going
When they cut the line

And when they get there
Does it bring happiness
Life can change suddenly
What’s the catalyst

It’s all a big race, but I gotta say

[ch]
I love the rain
It brings relief
It cuts thru the heat
And I can finally breathe
And when it pours
Really hammers the ground
I know a calm is gonna come
A calm is gonna come around

[br]
And it’s rejuvenating
Spending time alone
Listening to the world
As a cool breeze blows

That is my way and I gotta say

[ch]
I love the rain
It brings relief
It cuts thru the heat
And I can finally breathe
And when it pours
Really hammers the ground
I know a calm is gonna come
A calm is gonna come around

this is a good one. i am also partial to the rain, having been born and raised in seattle and now living in a city of 10 million people between the ocean and the andes where it never rains. you have some great lines here, and whats more....a solid rhythmic and melodic feel for them. it should made a memorable song.

It poured this morning here and I wanted to write about it, but never got there. I love a good rain and a good rain song!

I like the first verse(s) and the chorus quite a bit. Loving the rain and letting us know why. Just this evening I road the motorcycle through a brief shower and it was kind of cool... a welcome relief from the oppressive heat and muggy conditions. Also, I wrote a song last year (I think last year) called " I Hate The Rain" and this is a nice counter to that.

A wonderful flowing rhythmic lyric and I can hear the music in my head. Am hoping to circle back around to this one in September in case someone has not put it to music.

I like the sentiment in the chorus. I have a big rainy day person build inside me and autumn is my favorite season of all. Also the idea that rain ( =nature ) has it's own way of directing people away from their busy life and onto something more meaningful is very relatable. Good bridge, too.

Well, if @AndyGetch don't mind I could do it in a couple of days. We can have multiple versions, can't we, Kristi? Especially if they are so different like I'm assuming they might be in this case.

@Klaus I don't mind at all. I just did not want to see this wonderful lyric go without music. I'm looking forward to your version.

I like how you move from literal rain to a deeper emotional sense of the relief that rain brings. Nice rhythms, very music-friendly.

Looking at the lyrics...the first section is so true but the only problem here is it is over 100 degrees every day so we just stay inside. However, the first section paints a nice picture of summer fun. Looking at the chorus now....I love the rain too in the summer months so I can totally relate to this song. The lines flow nicely and your choice of words to express this is outstanding. I like really hammers the ground as it creates a familiar visual for me. It doesn't rain much here in the desert this time of year but when it does it hammers the ground. The bridge creates even more visual as our climate is so hot here that a summer shower does in fact rejuvenate and make our hot summer day feel so much better. Pretty good Kristi. I like rain and rain songs too. Looking forward to the audio for this song.

I love the rain too, though this year it doesn't seem to bring much relief... just more humidity. This scans really well and I like the connection of weather to human activity. Rain as a metaphor for slowing down and enjoying things as they come is a good one.
