Howdy

This song is about (where in a point of a relationship) where two people do love each other and get on very well, but when it comes to long term stuff, setting goals, having adventure, one person wants to venture forth and try new things but the other doesn’t.

So the song, is about one person wondering, do I need to be with someone else who shares my sense of adventure or should I pull myself back and just be grateful for what I have?

This is not very good lyric as yet but I think there might be potential but as a topic of a song, do you think it would make for uncomfortable listening, cos sometimes people don’t want to admit, even to themselves, that maybe its time to go (or to let go of something good)

It probably has too many words in it, but I’ll cull it after 50/90.

VERSE
I’m trying to take us places
But you keep pulling me back
I’m trying to show you how big the world is baby
But more and more I notice
You don’t seem in’trested in that
We don’t seem want the same things lately

PRE-CHORUS
I can hear the warning bells
Crystal clear and oh so loud
Baby can you hear them too?

CHORUS
Red flags on the horizon
I think I’m living with a backseat driver
Have to ask myself
How much I love you
Red flags on the horizon
Do I wanna be a backseat driver?
Maybe I’m better off
With someone new?
Hmmmmm

VERSE
You say no to my suggestions
You don’t seem to wanna try anything new
How do you expect the both of us to grow?
Cos more and more I notice
You’re don’t’ seem to think things through
Baby where do you think this goes?

PRE-CHORUS
I can hear the warning bells
Crystal clear and oh so loud
Baby can you hear them too?

CHORUS
Red flags on the horizon
I think I’m living with a backseat driver
Have to ask myself
How much I love you
Red flags on the horizon
Do I wanna be a backseat driver?
Maybe I’m better off
With someone new?
Hmmmmm

BRIDGE
I think the finish line is here
Is it time of us to disappear?

CHORUS
Red flags on the horizon
I think I’m living with a backseat driver
Have to ask myself
How much I love you
Red flags on the horizon
Do I wanna be a backseat driver?
Maybe I’m better off
With someone new?
Hmmmmm

Let me speak to your question from the liner notes first-- no, it's not too uncomfortable, or if it is, more reason to go there. Writers, of anything, have to speak truth, and anyone looking for glossy lies and propaganda can go find it elsewhere.

I like the way you use your buzzwords here-- red flags, horizons, warning bells-- and I think this could go even deeper with more specificity-- not so much it's way too personal, but maybe a few more descriptions. I feel it hangs well from the hook of "backseat driver" but what we don't know is why growth, to the narrator, means doing something different, nor do we see quite clearly enough what the offending party is doing/not doing. That's where a few more details would strengthen the narrator's argument here, making it all clear. Let me know if you put up a demo!!!

It's a situation many/most of us have been in - I know I have. So it's a relatable topic worth exploring, for sure.
There are plenty of cool words and phrases here that can be turned into vocal hooks. As to whether it has too many words - I don't think so, but those key words are also enough to carry the song. Potential here, for sure.
