Liner Notes:

Finally, after weeks without a song, I'm back on the board!

This time my telecaster makes its debut! I'm still very much a novice guitar player, so I'm sure it sounds pretty sloppy (even after editing some of the timing in post, haha) but hey, it's a learning process, and this gave me a good excuse to practice.

I took a different writing approach to this song than what I usually do. Normally, I'll start with the melody, flesh out the lyrics next, and then the chords come last. For this, though, since I knew I wanted to use my guitar, and the number of chords I can play is fairly limited, I started with the chords first, then the melody and lyrics. It was interesting to work in a different order than what I'm used to, so I may try this again some time.

Lyrics:

Got the first flight home
I'm going today
List of pros and cons
I've thrown away

Always went with the safe path
In my head
But today I'll follow
My heart instead

As for the possibilities
I'm leaving behind
No room for second guessing
I've made up my mind

Somehow I can
Figure out who I am
So I'm listening, I wanna know

Right now I can
Just decide who I am
So I'll choose where I wanna go

The way I will take
We'll have to see
But the one for you
Isn't right for me

As for the opportunities
I'm leaving behind
No room for second guessing
I've made up my mind

Somehow I can
Figure out who I am
So I'm listening, I wanna know

Right now I can
Just decide who I am
So I'll choose where I wanna go

Somehow I can
Figure out who I am
So I'm listening, I wanna know

Right now I can
Just decide who I am
So I'll choose where I wanna go

Fun tune. Love the backing vocals. Guitar sounds good. That little synth line on there adds a lot too. Very good lyrics. I like the concept of finding who you are and not apologizing for it or letting others talk you out of it.

fun and catchy song in the styke of early 60s girl groups. your decision to arrange each section in different vocal configurtionsis very effective. i especially liked the effects on , i think, the third stanza,

I very much enjoyed this listen! The backing Vox is a fun touch to the overall song. Structure is pretty solid, too! Aces on continuing to push your own song writing boundaries!

This is great! If you know a limited number of chords, there's still nothing stopping you from writing something better than most people who know hundreds of chords would be able to write, which is what you've done here.

Dropping into the minor chords was a REALLY great decision for your tune structure and keeps the song from being too predictably samey structurally. This is really well written and the backing vox are great too. Awesome. Biggrin
