Liner Notes:

This track is pretty simple. It's a little bit of my thoughts on the world today. Everyone is so polarized that barely anything gets done. I live in the deep south, and I struggle with the idea of leaving and moving somewhere more aligned with my views versus staying and trying to make it a better place for like minded people in the area.

The production is pretty simple. It's literally the same drum track throughout. I may change it up one day. Add some fills and stuff. For now it's a decent demo and I'm moving on.

Thanks for listening. I hope you enjoy.

Lyrics:

Verse 1

If it ain't you, who it's gonna be
Should it be me? Is anybody free?
I don't even know what to do about problems,
Should I move away, or stay here and solve them,

Livin' my life to the best of my ability,
Tryin' to participate but everyone is so extreme,
Can't get nothin' done, don't nobody wanna budge,
Should I keep tryin', or should I just give it up,

Chorus

Livin' everyday, don't know how to feel
Cause I'm feelin' every way, Don't know how to deal
With the things that people say, Don't know who'd real
And I don't know who's fake, Wish they made a pill
That would take it all away, Just leave me the thrills
Take away the hate, cause hate is what kills
And it's killin' every day, wish I had a mil
Just to give it all away, give it to the kids,
Make the world a better place

Verse 2

You're part of the solution or part of the problem,
You gotta pick a side, there's no neutral column,
You're spreadin' the hate, or you're spreadin' the love,
Cause good people doin' nothin' ain't never been enough,

How can we expect more of residents,
When we got such a hateful president,
Setting all the wrong type of precedents,
Causing international incidents,

Please keep your comments respectful, honest, and constructive. Please focus on the song and not the demo.

Wow gslade, you've produced a really nice rap tune with a very important message! I like how you are asking the question rather than answering it. Especially cool is the positive tone you are setting with thoughts like this,

wish I had a mil
Just to give it all away, give it to the kids,
Make the world a better place

Nice, basic backing track that serves the lyrics well. I enjoyed my listen!

Excellent work! this might be my favorite g slade track ever, in fact- its a difficult subject, all this polarization and divisiveness, etc,---- but you did the subject and the world proud with that wise approach-- and the backing music serves the message, too.
Well done, and hats off to you! Smile
---and yeah, there is something to be said for staying and trying to influence local politics, at least, even if the national politics seems hopeless from the state you live in- but that being said, do what you have to do, and keep the good (and optimistic) fight going! as you so wisely said,

You're part of the solution or part of the problem,
You gotta pick a side, there's no neutral column,
You're spreadin' the hate, or you're spreadin' the love,
Cause good people doin' nothin' ain't never been enough,

(come to think of it, maybe this should be the chorus?)

Good one. The low key intensity of the sound is a cool way to balance the strong message.

Nice to hear your words and music, man. You took a somewhat minimalistic approach and made it work against the backdrop of our sign of the times. It's a very strange time that we live in. Not sure what to make of it, sometimes, but I appreciate your "voice in the wilderness".

Dude that drum drops in like... instant head-bobbing. Nice.

That's really hard man, the idea of wanting to move away because of ideology. I'm kind of stuck in a mid-Atlantic bubble so I don't really know, but I have relatives in Alabama, and I've even thought - on occasion - of picking up stakes and moving there. But I always think, "would anyone there see things the same way as me? Would that matter, maybe I could put it aside?" and then the dangerous thought, "could I change them?" Hah! Nope, probably a dumb idea on my part Biggrin Or is it? That's what this song makes me think of.
